I've not come across it since it's quite odd to want to back it up, best way
is to export bookmarks (favourites) as HTML.

Click the wrench in the top right, go to bookmark manager, click the Organise
tab, click Export Bookmarks... & choose where to save it. Hope that's enough
for you, not quite the best though I admit :L

In case you wonder it's here:
    C:\Users\Your computer username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

Not checked but have you looked at bookmark extensions? If there isn't one out there that allows you to store and use bookmarks between browsers then I'd be surprised (and richer if I invent one... )

Yes like pant said earlier chrome does have an option to backup bookmarks and then import them again in case we ever re-install windows or something.

However i have done it, it becomes a huge mess as it doesn't saves the folders and stuff in which order they're arranged and all of them are copied in a single section, not sure if the latest versions have changed this so that's why it's better to copy the stuff from the directory and just replace it, this will keep the status intact.
