    Default Regional Recruitment

Would it be possible to give regions the ability to recruit the unique units of a faction for whichever faction that held the region? For example if an English player held a french region like Angers they would not be able to recruit English units there but they would be able to recruit French units. I am curious about this and this would seem a great feature to implement via a mod. Any help about whether or not this is possible and how it might be done would be appreciated.

very possible, but a lot of work
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

RR/RC submod does exactly what you say.

Some of the important things you would have to do would be:

    1. Add the textures and unit cards for every regional unit to every single faction since every faction would be able to recruit every unit. Otherwise you would get the silver surfers in battle and messed up unit cards.

    2. Add every faction to the ownership line for every regional unit in export_descr_units.

    3. Create hidden resources for different regions and add those onto the regional units recruitment lines in export_descr_buildings. There's a tutorial for this in the Mod Workshop.

I think this is everything you would have to do, but someone please correct me if I am missing any steps. As RollingWave said, it would be a very long and tedious job.

I'm not 100% certain about this... but I don't think you have to do that for AoR units. As long as the unit has the mercenary_unit attribute in the EDU, I think you can get away with only having the textures and unit cards in one spot - either designated as mercs or slave. They just have to make sure that ownership in the EDU includes slave, or preferrably "all" like you mentioned.

^Can someone confirm that? That would be very useful if it's true.

It is correct, as long as you have merc attribute you only need 1 entry in BMDB and 1 set of UI card, the downside however is that if you want different faction to have different banners... or different Coat of arms on their equipment / clothes etc.. then this won't work, however for generic units it's usually good.
