Default How long is the story line over?

So i'm reading dance for the first time and i came along a Davos chapter where a sailor says something along the lines of "the beggar prince has been dead for years. Slain by dothraki horselords" This lead me to thinking: how long have these books spanned? From game of thrones to the end of dance how long has it been?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Best guess would be between 2 and 3 years. This is based on Sansa (as Alayne) claiming to be 14 while thinking Alayne should be slightly older than Sansa. We can thus take her age at just under 14. Her age at the beginning was 11.

Margaery Tyrell was also 14 when she wed Renly Baratheon yet 16 when she wed Tommen Baratheon

"Me? Ruin? I'm not the ruiner, I'm the ruinee! Or is it ruinness? Ruinette?"
"She's ahead of the litter all right. The pick of the litter. The cat's pajamas. Oh wait. Why would Applejack take some poor kitty's pj's? That's not very sporting of her."
"More balloons! No, that's too many balloons. More candy! No, less candy. Ooh! I know! Streamers!"
"Oh my gosh. Hold on to your hooves – I am just about to be brilliant!"

No one knows for sure, probably a little over three years.

In the wiki it begins in the end of 297 and ends at the beginning of 301
"We all know whatmy brother would do. Robert would gallop up to the gates of Winterfell alone, break them with his warhammer, and ride through the rubble to slay Roose Bolton with his left hand and the Bastard with his right. I am not Robert. But we will march, and we will free Winterfell … or die in the attempt."

It starts in 298 AL (After the Landing). There's been some speculation that Daenerys's storyline begins a little bit earlier in AGoT, maybe even right at the end of 297 (and the prologue can certainly take place that much earlier), but Daenerys's 14th birthday (which happens on the Dothraki sea) happens in 298 (as she was born in 284, eight months after the Sack of King's Landing).

Several separate attempts have been made to put together a solid timeline and these all seem to concur on several things, most notably that Sam and Arya's storylines in AFFC-ADWD end in early 301 AL. By the end of ADWD everyone else has caught up with them and might have even moved on a little, more towards the middle of 301 AL.

Unfortunately, the recent revelation of more maps of Essos, including the location of Vaes Dothrak and the Lhazareen village where they meet Mirri Maz Duur, has meant that the timeline has to be rejigged. Daenerys's journey in AGoT by itself is mental (4,000 miles, give or take a couple of hundred) and possibly stretching credulity, especially the speed with which Robert was able to send an assassin after her and for him to get to Vaes Dothrak; unless ravens or pigeons were involved somewhere, that's almost impossible.

But yeah, as a rule of the thumb between 3 and 3.5 years.

But then the essosi swallow's not migratory. So it only leaves us to westerosi swallows.
