    Default Light Infantry Behavior?

What happened to it in FotS? Was it already outdated in 1865?
If you ask me, it was one of the best unit abilities in N:TW.

Too much work/time to implement I guess. Just like the lack of bayonets.

You knew what you were buying. There were no bayonets in the screenshots or anything.

    A mod has unlocked it.

It's got the same icon as it did back in ETW and NTW.

Bad thing is that the infantry have to spend an eternity repositioning themselves before they shoot, and you can't make your line infantry use kneel fire since the kneeling guys will hit their own. But it's good with the guys behind just standing up.

Light infantry or skirmishers are sort of still in the game.

The new sharpshooter units perform some of the same functions. Similar to some of the light units of Napoleon they have a slightly longer rifle range, and have a smaller unit size (90 men) at the large unit size setting.

If you use one of the preset army formations such as the double standard, the sharpshooters will be placed exactly in the same positions as the old light infantry--that is on the flanks outside the artillery and just in front of any cavalry.

Unlike some of the previous light infantry units, they can't set out stakes nor can they be set to a light infantry operational mode. Of course one can set them to skirmish and open rank mode, but you still need to keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get into trouble.

    Cheers
Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl!
