Some explanations: I took a red stone on which I've "engraved" the text and add a drawing of Petra. Then I've added the horses in sand. Et voilà

What program are you using for making things like this? And are there any good tutorials you'd recommend for said program? What you've done is brilliant, but I'd like to be able to make my own in the future to save everyone else the trouble, and having some more familiarity with a slightly more capable image editing program would be good anyway so that I can make more involved maps and whatnot for my AAR.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 but it's not for free. The price should be about 90.00€ nowadays for a standard version.
Another option is GIMP which is for free and offers quite good possibilities as well. Paleologos uses that one.

For both, there are many tutorials on the web, depending on what you want to do

Are there restrictions on how many banners one can have in his signature, or size restrictions if one has several?

Here is my new story the Journeyman's world. I'd like it to be very 'drawn out like a fantasy epic'.

So it could be in that Nabetean style you did - but in paper - giving it a 16th century map feel.

This is a mirage of pictures for a signature.

So:

Hindu Temples
Viking siege
Roman Temples
Japanese Castle

All in a mirage - this image gives a good idea of what I'm looking for:

@ Cookiegod, there are 2 limits for sigs:
- the size which is 550x175 pixels max.
- the other size which is 250 Ko.

Strange thing is that before I tested the 250kB limit out... The sig I'm using has about 150kB. I had the poem outside of the sig (I think it was something like 5 kB), in a second picture that was also 175pixel high. It worked in the preview, but didn't show it in the posts. Then I simply combined the two, even though they look worse that way.

Or is 550*175 the size limit for all images combined? Because I kinda assumed that to be the size limit of all of them combined?

@ San Felipe, cedric37 is Art Content Staffer like me. So you have nothing more to do for now

@ Cookiegod, if your whole sig (several pics or a pic plus text) is bigger than 550x175 pixels, then only a part equal to 550x175 pixels will be visible. It's not like avatars or profile pics. These are automatically resized if exceeding the maximum size allowed.

Also, the 250kb limit isn't enforced by the system. You could have a 50mb gif, but if its spotted by a mod you'd be told to remove it.
I had a 2mb gif for a while even as a Mod because I'd forgotten about that rule =P

Hey cookiegod, I actually think your sig looks great, except the text of the poem could be a bit more visible. Maybe you could try making it a shade darker so that it "pops" a bit more. Not black, as that would be too in-your-face I think, but just a darker tone of what you're using. I also think you dropped a typo in the poem when adding it to the image. In the third to last line should it not read "that will never be trod again."? Otherwise it would be saying that the path is walking, and not that the wanderer is walking the path.

Another option could be to keep the text dark on the sky and brighter on the mountains

San Felipe, the Art Staff don't need to know the link to your story - you add that to the image yourself when you change your signature.
