It looks like the Charlton automatic rifle, it was a blot action rifle converted into a semi automatic. It was never used in WW2 atleast if i know. Its an interesting weapon, its also featured in the book 'Firearms-pictures' .

Clue: discontinued in 1960 (year before the Tsar Bomba test), imo it qualifies as a battlefield* weapon.
*although, it would never have been used on an actual field...
