Referring to names such as "qdb" and "sb' w-gwm". Obviously, they didn't pronounce them that way since it's pretty much impossible. I assume that you simply do not know that vowels but please, it looks to ugly. Can't you just semi-guess which vowels should be there instead?

didnt they have the option to either enable disable original names in the instalation process?

Well unless some radical new piece of research comes along which revolutionises our understanding of the names, specifically filling in all the blanks on vowels ... we're probably going to keep the names vowel-less.

Nope, that subject has been brought up as feature request but I rejected it.

So it's simply written sb' w-gwm because you don't know the vowels and you'll rather have unfinished historically accurate names then finished unhistorical ones? Ok, I'll get that.

If you really need vowel, you can make your own made up pronunciations, no? Why would we have to be the ones fantasising for you?

Read the preview, didnt it say they didnt use vowels in their written language and therefore to be accurate they are not used when translated into english??

haghar hyr, noble archers, have vowels in them so it's not consistent. And while they didn't have vowels in their written language that's irrelevant as they didn't write with the latin alphabeth. And they didn't pronouce them as such either. The native names should strive after pronounciation no?

I hope they use the transliterated version (with the added vowels) for the units etc. just for legibility. Though in EB they have the name, the phonetics and the the english, which would still work in the non-latin version.
Were there but a tree in this godforsaken place i would have hanged myself.

They have them, but the spelling rules are complicated and inconsistent (some are written all the time, some are only written in specific situations). It's because the Semitic languages are fashioned in a way that allows native speakers to read the customized Semitic alphabets without getting confused about the meaning. The problem is, once the language in question is dead or has evolved further, it's very difficult to say precisely which vowel went where. An even bigger problem is when somebody applies that kind of alphabet to a non-Semitic language (like Persian), because those don't work well without written out vowels.

You do realize that Greek kingdoms ruled the world from Illyria to Afghanistan, right? You see, there was this guy called Alexander the Great, he conquered a bunch of land and his followers set up a few kingdoms/enormous empires there. And that before that greek merchants set up colonies around the entire mediterranean.

    1. Have try a EB1: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=518308. All units have native/local and English names.
    2. Do you really want to play a historic mod, or do you rather want it simple and easy?

Hmm... I guess you are either young (then your post is at least somehow understandable) or dumb (then anything you say is fine)...

To get at least a starting glimps at the Hellenistic world wikipedia is quite fine, but even looking there seens to have been to much work for you...

Rule number one: Europa Barbarorum is always with when it comes to history. They're the most trusted source on history in my opinion.

We should be able to pronounce those words. You should either include vowles or teach us how to pronounce them.
