Random System Crash/Freeze
Well I have 7970 and from the looks of it, it may have some driver issues with shogun 2 or I have a lemon but besides that I wanted to be absolutely sure that I wasn't having another issue that would be causing system crash/freeze so here is my dxdiag. Hoping that some fresh eyes might catch something I missed.
I also have a file with nothing in it in logs so I'm guessing I don't have a graphics log file.

Re: Random System Crash/Freeze
It could be drivers.
Use MSI Afterburner to see what the temps are under load.

Re: Random System Crash/Freeze
73C under 99% usage for over an hour (used Kombustor to test this). So that means in games it's lot lower, like Civ 5 hangs around 50, FotS around low 60s, etc.
I tried both 12.3 and 12.4beta with same result. Should I try going back even further?
Edit: Should I try disabling ULPS?

Re: Random System Crash/Freeze
Why not? Worst thing that can happen is re-enabling it.

I don't know either but I found this. http://www.anandtech.com/show/5261/a...7970-review/11
It may also tie in with your i7.

Re: Random System Crash/Freeze
Now I'm lead to the conclusion that my card is just a bad batch. Just got a system crash (identical to one I experience in FotS) after few hours of Civ5. Never had this kind of system crash ever until I installed this 7970. Two different games, I can't keep hoping that it's a software problem... Time to lay off PC gaming while the card is in transit I guess darn it.
Edit: I was bored at night so I played Civ5, which ran for hours without a hitch... what the hell lol
