The Wedding of Gnaeus Tranquilius and Flavia Regulus



After a long wait and despite the distance Maximinius was away from Rome, Decimus got the permission from his nephew to set up the long arranged wedding of Gnaeus and Flavia. The young Regulus, sister of Maximinius and now 17, was in full bloom with her beauty. She was smart and a quick learner like her father, but held the beauty of her mother. Her Uncle Decimus and sister-in-law Livia, her brother's wife and mother of her nephew, Lucius, prepared everything needed. Decimus sent out letters across Rome announcing this great joining of the Tranquilius and Regulus families; homes of two famous and long serving Consuls. Decimus stood at the entry, ready to welcome all into the Temple of Jupiter. Livia was helping do the finishing touches on Livia while little Lucius, now four years old was with his mother who helped get Flavia ready for the wedding.

Herrenius, a priest of Mars, arrived to officiate. His role, however, would be small in this ceremony as in all Roman weddings.

Burcanius came into the Temple of Jupiter. These weddings were good news, as he was glad to see Powerful Patrician Families joining. He saw Decimus and moved towards him
''A Great Wedding. Unfortunately I haven't seed a lot of other Senators.''

[Dark Storm]

Gnaeus arrived, resplendent in his robes, he was both nervous and excited, a strange combination,
"Ave Senators,"
he smiled as he approached the gathered men,
"The Gods have smiled on us today,"
he spoke noting the clement weather,
"My family are soon to arrive, where shall they sit?"

Gnaeus arrived, resplendent in his robes, he was both nervous and excited, a strange combination,
"Ave Senators,"
he smiled as he approached the gathered men,
"The Gods have smiled on us today,"
he spoke noting the clement weather,
"My family are soon to arrive, where shall they sit?"

Decimus points to the left side towards the front.

Burcanius moved to Gnaeus
''Ave Senator. Congratulations for this Glorious union.''

[Dark Storm]

Gnaeus nodded to the men,
"Thank you."
he smiled slightly,
"How...how is she?"
he asked Decimus,
"Nervous, regretful?"
he continued worrying slightly...

Gnaeus nodded to the men,
"Thank you."
he smiled slightly,
"How...how is she?"
he asked Decimus,
"Nervous, regretful?"
he continued worrying slightly...

Relax, Gnaeus...Flavia is fine and happy.

He smiles at Gnaeus and pats his shoulder as he walks off now to check on her

Gnaeus nods to the man, calming himself and stands at the front of the temple, unsure of what to do next. He smiled at some of the gathered Senators,
"Thank you for coming."
One man nodded quickly before walking away. Gnaeus looked in shock for a moment before realising that the man was actually a slave, he turned round embarassed and went back to waiting...

Gnaeus nods to the man, calming himself and stands at the front of the temple, unsure of what to do next. He smiled at some of the gathered Senators,
"Thank you for coming."
One man nodded quickly before walking away. Gnaeus looked in shock for a moment before realising that the man was actually a slave, he turned round embarassed and went back to waiting...

Decimus clears his throat and steps aside as Flavia approaches Gnaeus. She had been helped by her sister in law in getting ready for Gnaeus. Decimus nods to the Priest of Jupiter as Flavia holds the hand of her husband-to-be. She offers a smile and looks at the priest.

Burcanius moves to Gnaeus, being rather cheerful to see Gnaeus moving around like a headless chicken.
''Relax, everything will be fine. You shouldn't worry that much. Take a deep breath and then just relax. I believe, that the Gods will give their blessing for this Wedding and that you will have a long prosperous marriage. Also Proconsul Lucullus sends his regards and wishes everything best for you and Flavia.''
