The Patrician Varus line is one of the most ancient in Rome and claims to be able to trace it's ancestry back to the Eternal City's Founding. How much of this is fiction is debatable and rumors circulate Rome of rather more humble origins in Hispania, but the Varus family certainley see itself among Rome's elite with sufficient assets to suit a successful Patrician clan.

The current head of the family is the twenty year old Maximinius, who has been recently thrust into Roman politics following the death of his father.
