    Default London Mayoral Elections 2012

With the election for London mayor coming up in May, who do the Londoners on here want to see in power? And for any non-Londoners who do you think would do the best job? And I am aware this does sound a bit like a survey but I'm quite curious. Boris, Ken or other? (not sure how to make a poll).

I'm thinking Boris will get a second term. Ken might have had a shot at it, but his recent gaffs regarding his taxes have certainly hurt his chances.

I would much rather have David Mitchell as mayor. Or better yet PM.

Is any of the candidates running with "The City must join London" theme, like Tony Blair did, but then faced the reality of City power?

    I'd vote him.

That The city of London Corporation and Inner Temple stuff ruled by wealthy individuals instead of democratic principals is way to shady. Im talking Illuminati shapeshifting secret rulers of the world type shady.

    Non-Londoner.

Purely for comedy value I hope Boris gets a 2nd term. That man's every appearance on telly is top notch comedy.

Boris comes across as a buffoon but he strikes me as being far more capable than Red Ken.

He also annoys and hates Cameron which is a bonus.

I love how Boris is a complete renegade within his own party and gives Cameron the middle finger whenever the people of London get the end of the stick. More politicians like him are needed. Plus he's pure gold for everyone to watch outside of London.

He cried publicly when he watched this PPB but then it turned out they were scripted recruits

Hates Cameron? No. Wants to be the next conservative leader? Yes.

I want red ken, as he is red. So is labour and so am i. Simple, except for labour not being very red at the moment so them.

Also i like the fact Boris grabbed Ken in a lift and shouted "you're a ing liar" at him over his taxes, this is how politics should work, two men who you have no idea if you can trust, both of whom are making complete gaffs and doing generally funny things.

This election is a circus already.

The Have I Got News For You snobby sex addict.

The wannabe leftist who avoids tax and claims his brandy on expenses...

The gay policeman (who is the most serious candidate).

The tree hugger who wants to raise congestion charge to 40 quid.

Best of all, the BNp candidate who is a foreigner...

As usual its appearances being discussed instead of issues. The girlification of political debate.

We have got our first ever Mayoral election here in Liverpool soon. Trouble is no one has made clear exactly what powers our new mayor will have, and that makes it kind of hard to choose one of the candidates.

I am fully in favour of the devolution of power in this sort of fashion but I fear that, like Thorn said in the case of London, it will become more of a case of appearances and not issues being discussed.
