Is this a multiplayer related question, or something? Because I don't believe it's possible to rename your units in the campaign. Or if you can, I would be interested to know how. I know I could do this in Empire.

He must be talking about Empire because you can`t name troops in STW2 as far as I know. Would`ve been nice if CA had kept that in.

Bow Ash - Cheapo Bow Vet
Yari Samurai - Fast Runners (use as meat-shield to close distance against missle)

Everything else more of less "Vet unit". Just use it as a fast indicator to tell me unit has better stat.

Let me think for a moment... in FotS... I used "Konpaku", "Roukanken" and "Hakurouken" for my katana kachi and shigoti. I named them for divisions, so the first katana kachi vet I got was the "First Konpaku Division", then the "First Roukanken Divison" and the "First Hakurouken Division". Then I rolled over to Second and Third as I got one.

For my Vermillions, they're the First Tomoe Officers and the Second Tomoe Officers. Yari Ki are the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Basashi Cavalry. I have a few Azure Dragons which are just the First and Second Kouryou Division. I have two yugekitai snipers, one is the Wulfstan Snipers and the other is the O'Hara Snipers.

For S2/ROTS, I named all the Warrior Nuns with a random female Japanese first name, then a last name of my choosing, off the top of my head I think I have Kochiya, Kirisame, Konpaku, Saigyouji... I can't recall the rest. My Onna Bushi Heroine is named Hakurei Akemi I think.

Bow Samurai: Professionally Drilled Rapists, Homing Homos, Wesley Pipes, Pretty in Pink etc
Monk Cavalry: Eunuck Cavalry, Donkey Riders, Castrated Supermen etc
Yari Ashigaru: Pinhead, Manhunter, Vlad Teppes, Peasant Scum etc
Katana Samurai: Butter Cutter, Gutter Strutter, Chef Knives, Lemon Juice Battalion, Cat Warriors, Lester the Molester etc
Matchlock Samurai: Magical Booms Sticks etc
Wako Raiders: Wako s

Haha. Thats why I like the ability to rename units. Some of the stuff people come up with is hilariously wtf when you mouse over them.

All of my samurai units are deathsworn archers, or spearmen, cavalry, ect
heroes & katana cavalry are deathwatch guards
the ashigaru are brothers of the sword, or spear, or bow, or horse
The warrior monks are fanatics of the light or fanatical archers of the light

All traditional units us the above naming system and modern ones are more random
Like white bears are # regiment of foot guards #= the order in got them in
Shogunate guards are # regiment of sturmtruppen
Royal marines are # regiment of imperial marines
Sharpshooters are # regiment of volksgrenadier
Imperial guards are # regiment of falschrimjagers (these guys are not actually paratroopers)

I usually go with something grandiose, most of my units have something like Kimi no Dai_____ 君の大 in front of a unit's name.
It started while I was playing the beta game, I was taking classical Chinese at the time and a lot of the texts had 君 so I went with it.
