It's been some time since Atticus and Sidious decided to work together, and they helped each other in the fields the latter was lacking. In time Sidious began to trust Atticus, trust him enough to tell him what he had been planning for some time. So he left him a note after the potion making class:

Meet me in the courtyard after classes, come alone, there is something very important we must discuss.

As he waited, Sidious wondered if Atticus would approve of his, lets be honest, quite brilliant plan.

He sat at arches overlooking the courtyard as not to be exposed and waited for Atticus to arrive.

Atticus was wondering when Sidious would first approach him with a scheme. It appeared that today was that day. He left the dungeons unburdened of his school books and walked to the courtyard. He approached Sidious and tried to keep his expression vacant and emotionless.

"Well?"

While sitting on a bast of one of the arches, Sidious greeted him with a smirk. Come on smile a bit it will do you good. He said while acting honestly friendly. While getting up he said to Atticus somewhat more seriously.

Listen, Atticus, in the past months I have come to trust you, I mean there was more than one occasion that you prevented me being seriously hurt by various flora and more than a few time I have prevented you making a not so small explosion.

Sidious put his arm over his shoulders and moved Atticus behind a column so no one could see them.

What I'm trying to say is that I trust you enough to uncover what I've been planning all this time. First you must understand that this is a very long term plan and more than a few mayor rules would be broken. But if we make it happen the whole wizard world would kneel before the greatness that we would become.

Now I'm sure that you know what Felix Felicis is, the fact is it lasts only a day because larger quantities could prove toxic and deadly. But what if I told you that I know a way pass that?

Now before I tell you anything else you must swear to me that you will tell absolutely no one about this, not even the Minister of Magic himself.

Sidious looked very seriously.

Atticus opened his mouth to speak but quickly shut it again. He had to choose his next words carefully. He began again, speaking slowly and with great purpose.

I would probably doubt it, Sidious. If the answer was so simple a few half grown wizards could concoct a work around I highly doubt Felix would be so guarded.

Atticus turned to the boy and fixed his dark eyes on him, searching for any sign of jest.

But how would you possibly be able to brew anything like Felix Felicis anyway? That is a tall order, I doubt it would even be able to brew properly in our pathetic pewter school cauldrons.

Sidious kept a straight and serious face, which was very uncharacteristic for him.

Not a bunch of wizards no, only one. He spoke very slowly.

Horace Slughorn.

He is a big friend of my dads who was a part of his little "Slug Club", they've kept in touch since he graduated. He visits us every summer at our Mansion and stays for a month, it's because of him I grew to love potions.

There was a sadness on Sidiouses face for a few seconds.

The poor old man is on his death bead for over half a year now, I think he is keeping him self alive against the odds but won't last much longer. Last summer he didn't come, instead of him came a large package. He gave my father his life work in hopes that someone would continue his work. My father sealed it all away in the family home safe and later had it transported to Gringots but not before I could sneak in and look at it.

Atticus the man is a genius! Sidious than spoke some time in admiration about formulas, balms and elixirs that where written down but when he saw the anticipation on Atticuses face he came to his seances and continued with a serious face.

All in all, he modified the recipe for the luck potion and was very close to finding a catalyst for merging it with the everlasting elixir. But here is where it gets complicated. He didn't leave a recipe neither for the luck potion nor for the catalyst, BUT he did write where they are.

The modified Felix Felicis potion recipe is written down on the back pages of the "Moste Potente Potions" which is currently here in Hogwarts in the Restricted area of the library. And the Catalyst recipe is in the safe of his former professor office.

As for the how and with what to obtain the recipes and brew them well there we come to the rule bending.

Now Atticus, do you see what we can do?!

Sidious garbed Atticuses shoulders with both hands with eyes wide open and shining with ambition.

This could take...years. Even with access to the restricted section.

Atticus had a hard time suppressing a smirk

I've been in it, you know, the restricted section. There's a lot of material there on a variety of subjects. But we are only second years...Sidious, this will take a while even if we are making good progress. Even if the recipe is written in the back of that book and the book is still in the library gathering the ingredients would take a monumental amount of work and, well, risk. There are a lot of factors to work out here, Sidious.

I know. But we have Slughorns instructions, we know what to do, and if we succeed... He stopped in his tracks.

It's just mind blowing! Currently no one but us know about this except for my dad and Slughorn and one knows nothing of potions and the other is dying. It will take years perhaps but what are a few years when we can be gods among men? We CAN do this!

Sidious offered his hand for a handshake.

Yes I agree, the first step is getting those recipes... Sidious smile while he shook his hand friend.

After that we can take it as slow as we want.

Sidious raised his eyebrow.

Potion of invisibility comes to mind but the ingredients are expensive... Any suggestions?

There are easier ways to get into the library. I might not be able to do it until next year though...anything more from me might raise suspicion.

If you had come to me with this sooner I might have been able to do something. But its too late for that now.

Well Atticus I'm surprised, would you tell me something like that before you knew do you trust me or not?

After a quick think he spoke.

All right, lets leave the library until the next year but this year we must find a way to get in to that safe.

You said we needed to get into a "safe." What is it exactly we're trying to break into? Some sort of vault?

Yes. Sidious was relieved to find out Atticus knows what a safe is, he would be worried otherwise.

As I said Slughorn left the instructions and recipe for the catalyst that would bind the modified felix and the everlasting elixir in the safe that is located in his former house head chambers here at Hogwarts. The problems are I'm not sure are those the same chambers that the current potion master is using and I don't know how or where the safe is hidden in those chambers.

So....either in Professor White's office, the Headmaster's office or hidden somewhere in the potions classroom? That's a lot of potential hiding spots. A lot of difficult rooms to search completely...and who knows what kind of magic has sealed the vault from being found.

Atticus frowned.

Think you could get into the Headmaster's office?

It is an easier task. I cannot go in to the Headmasters office and not be notice or not be let in by that blasted gargoyle letting me in. No. And I bet we won't trick him, he's no fool... Sidious frowned...

But Hagrid on the other hand. THAT'S IT! Sidious smiled widely!

He is the only person who was there when Slughorn was head of house Slytherin. He could tell us where his chambers where, and he is not that hard to trick!

Atticus pondered for a moment

Then you have to go into his office under a false pretense then. He seems like he would be open to having a few students to his office to discuss academic subjects. At least then you could look around. And Hagrid might know something as well...and he's dumb enough to tell us.

Right than, White is yours I'll take care of the Half Giant and the Headmaster, well meet up when we both finish our tasks.

Sidious started to turn but stopped for a second and looked back at Atticus. Ou and Atticus, I'm glad we're on the same team here. He smiled.

He turned to leave but stopped short

but let's not get expelled.

Atticus turned around fully and left, his robes billowing behind him. This year would certainly be full of unexpected trials. Sidious seemed possessed to find this potion and concoct it.
