    Default Random discovery

    Okay...strange moment of ness.

For those of you who know how to view dds sheets, go to models2.pack > variantmodels > equipment > texture2_gloss_map.dds. For those of you who don't it looks like this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Now you can see two sets of Chinese characters in the bottom left. They are a Chinese internet euphemism for "X your mother".

Random pointless story admittedly, but someone at CA has way too much time on their hands. Even so..WHY??

Talking about random findings. This may be a complete miss, but I notice when you order an army to attack it sometimes says, "Wipe them out- All of them!"

I dunno, but to me it sounds almost exactly like what the Emperor says towards the end of the starwars film, `The Phantom menace`.. Just with a slightly less gravelly voice.

Probably nothing to do with Starwars, but it just reminds me of that scene every time. Maybe I can find the clip...

When they say "Japanese Death Poem" I as would anyone else assume that it was an actual poem made by a Japanese person before death.

I doubt many of the CA members are Japanese and I seriously doubt any of them are dead.
They're written in a Japanese style, so they are Japanese death poems.

You are wrong sir, because none of their creators are dead.

Oh, would it have made you feel better if they hired a load of Japanese people to write them then as soon as their done force them to commit Seppuku?

And the Sun Tzu Stuff was real......... Its jus the death poems, they're not that bad that they'd make up a whole extra chapter of Sun Tzu.

You are right, it doesn't matter one bit if it was written by a japanese legendary warrior of eons past, or someone sitting at a desk somewhere in england.

It's not like before death the japanese somehow had thier poems certified by some poetic authority and made authentic - then got catalogued (unless they were really famous), so they could spout them after having thier guts spilled in battle.

They were usually just the ramblings of men who knew death was imminent, who wrote these things to try and help them deal with the fact they were going to die.

If it sounds poetic and has some metaphor to how thier life is about to be extinguished, or sums up a persons actions in life it is a death poem - Then its a japanese style death poem. It doesn't have to be said by a dying or condemned japanese man to be considered "authentic".

Its like saying if it isnt written and said in japanese then it isnt a real japanense death poem - its a bit frivilous really.

If it looks like a duck...

I'm not from China and my Chinese knowledge is getting rusty, but I think the words literally mean "grass mud horse". The Chinese character for mother is slightly different from the one in the screen.

Indeed it does, except...just look up the wiki article on "grass mud horse"

This is on par with the vanilla lanterns that instead of saying "namo amitabha" in Kanji it says "namo ami-tofu"

Ah yes, my mistake. There are really many different combinations of Chinese characters that could sound the same as the profanity, just that "grass mud horse" was picked at random because the characters are simple enough to recognise I guess. In any case, the tonal pronunciation of "grass mud horse" in Chinese is different from the profanity, though their romanised spellings are the same.

The last word in the poem "Meh" is like.. it's the sort of noise that you make when you're generally bored, disaffected... you just generally don't care.

It's funny in the context of the poem because "My soul ascends" is such a big deal - yet this person is just "Meh" about it.

It makes me start to wonder if those death poems are real at all. The "Meh" is obviously added in (my soul ascends takes up the beat limit), but honestly I'm a bit annoyed by it. Tells me they thought of the entire project as "meh".

Even if they didn't, such things in the game give the impression. They should seek to not give that impression.

CA said before that the poems were made by the staff. A shame in a sense, but not exactly a big deal.

So I wasn't reading death poems of samurai past?

Now that's just disappointing. In which case that's not a Japanese death poem. That's just a crappy "Game Developer Poem". Unless they're dead, in which then I guess it is at least a death poem, but only 100% right if they are both dead and Japanese.

That really dissappoints me. I thought they were real stuff like the real sayings from war leaders like Sun Tzu.

I find that very misleading, I thought it was real stuff, just to now know it`s CA BS. Sorry, but I don`t like being deceived like that.

I don`t mind the other stuff that was funny, like the "I am from Swansea - Look you!!" As that was clearly a little joke, but no, not happy about putting something across as real stuff when it was BS.
