Rep. Allen West: Up to 81 House Reps are Communists

It's not the 1940s or the 1950s, Joe McCarthy is no longer rooting out alleged Soviet-supporters in the Legislature and the country is not entangled in the Cold War, but don't tell Rep. Allen West.
The Florida Republican told a crowd in his home state Tuesday that as many as 81 members of Congress are Communists.

In a clip of the town hall-style event that was posted online Wednesday, an audience member asks, "What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists?"
"I believe there's about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party," he said in the video.

After a long pause West, a former Army lieutenant colonel, adds, "They actually don't hide it. It's called the Congressional Progressive Caucus."

The comments soon went virtually viral online and "Allen West" became a trending topic on Twitter for part of the day.
Libero Della Piana, a vice-chairman of the national Communist Party, told Politico that the West' comments were a "sad ploy."
"I just think it's an absurd way to cast a shadow over his colleagues," Della Piana said. "It's just guilt by association taken to an extreme."

I thought the Red Scare was over? Apparently not according to Allen West. Its sad to know that the whole "fear communism" paranoia is still around. This guy, just like Joe McCarthy, is probably just looking for some attention.

It makes me wonder how a guy like this though gets elected to Congress in the first place.

Many of such same people call the Wallstreet cabal communist as well and thus socialism is what caused all bad things there. You only need to get rid of that and wallstreet will be pure again.

I can't believe the antagonism towards the far left still exists in America. The far left is perfectly harmless and non-violent these days, and its core values are not evil. Whether it works or not is another matter entirely.

Am i confused but is that not the far right? The only people who cry about taxes are the rich 1%.The Republicans want taxes and goverments removed due to simply hating poor people.They know that goverment is the only protection such people have from preying upper class folk.What they are asking is for wild west economics so they can have white slaves instead of the black slaves they had a few hundred years ago in thier stronghold states.GOP sound a lot like the confederate states to me.

If you give one guy a million dollars and get rid of goverments and taxes then you are simply going back to the old victorian age of the landlords and richer folk having control over every part of another humans life who has little money.If i have that million dollars and cause a financial crisis and bankrupt my neighbour i can simply offer him a cut price deal on his home.He can either stay in his home and starve or he can let me have it and he can live on the street for a while with a full stomach.This is simply economic slavery you are endorsing.
