The Arts... I need your help.
Lately I've been quite obsessed in the search for slightly (cough) weird films.
That.. Well basically fits outside the box, a good example would be Delicatessen, which I
    watched just today.
I've also been told Clockwork Orange is a good movie that would fit my criteria.. (Don't kill me
just because I haven't watched it yet.. )

So... Any good ones out there??
If it contains a large dose of black humour, well that's a plus eh.

Weird is kind of vague. Could you be more specific pls.

If you liked Delicatessen, you should check out Jeunet's 'City of Lost Children' some other similar movies that come to mind are Terry Gilliam films such as 'Brazil', 'Baron Munchausen', 'Twelve Monkeys', and to a lesser degree 'Fisher King'

Also depends on what you define as weird. 'Arizona Dream' with Johnny Depp might fit in there or 'Man Bites Dog'. Just some that come to mind, there's also a whole world of Avant Garde cinema like Un Chien Andalou.

Yep, the definition of weird is kind of personal but I will give you a tip anyway. Watch "The Alarmist". It is an entertaining movie and maybe fits your definition.

There was one that came out in the 90's, I believe, called Prospero's Books. It was shot in this intentional style of multiple layers of content in every shot, all of which I seem to remember being long tracking shots.

Another which isn't quite weird but interesting is Russian Ark. It used digital technology to present the history of Russia in one long 90 minute shot without any cuts. Unlike Rope the movie literally has no edits in it. The crew was dressed as background and they would move lights and such as the camera panned away.

Russian Ark was one of the coolest ideas for a movie I've ever seen. I think they use like thousands of extras, hundreds of incredibly ornate costumes and single shots with dozens of dancers in carefully choreographed dances & live classical music. Not to mention they had to setup the museum for filming over a weekend & shot the whole thing in a day. I think it only took 2 takes? Needless to say if you're going to watch it make sure you find the making of documentaries too, because personally I found them to be better than the film itself lol.

This. If you're looking for "weird", than look no further. I didnt even like it. I hated it. But it is no doubt the weirdest film ever made.

Also I'm a Cyborg But That's OK was a pretty weird Korean film. I didnt really like that either but alot of people do. And the director is Chan-wook Park, the guy behind Oldboy, Thirst & Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (all fantastic films).

And finally, I would think that if you've seen Delicatessen you've already seen this. But just in case, Amelie. Same director, same star, same quirky style, slightly toned down.

(you might have to turn the captions on)

Hm.... Mulholland Drive and City of Lost Children seems like two good alternatives..
Basically, anything that might not fit under a given genre, gives you WTF moments, or really stands out as nonstandard in comparison to other films I'd say is fine... Preferably with an evil sense of humour.

    Tetsuo: The Iron Man.

If you can get past the trailer and still want to watch it I'll be impressed.

Once/If you give that a go you can watch the remake.

    Tetsuo II - Body Hammer.

But by weird I'm assuming you probably mean Twin Peaks weird.

Population 436. It's a weird independent film (well, all independent films are weird, really). But it's a good suspense story. I'd really recommend it
Things I trust more than American conservatives:

Drinks from Bill Cosby, Flint Michigan tap water, Plane rides from Al Qaeda, Anything on the menu at Chipotle, Medical procedures from Mengele

    True story lol ^

Just tune into IFC or Sundance between 10 pm-3 AM

    They play stuff like:

    -Pi (awesome, trippy film)

    -Teeth
(sucks but you have to watch it)

    -The Dreamers
    (no comment)

    -Dune
(No idea what was going on in this film, if you watched it on acid you would probably die)

    - From Dusk till Dawn (Tarantino, wacky vampire killing movie.)

    -Fargo (black comedy)

-Let the Right One In (weird Swedish Vampire movie)
    Etc. etc.

All in all, it really depends on what your definition of weird is. There's like David Lynch weird, Begotten weird, Teletubbies weird, M.L.P. weird =P and so on lol.

Bad Lieutenant 2 by Werner Herzog, might as well check out Aguirre by the same director. Kinski is just weird as .

Then everyone must have seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Terry Gilliam.

And lets not forget that Korean modern classic Oldboy.

The Machinist or American Psycho both with Batman.

Yea, didn't read Thorns post lol, watch Fear and Loathing, its right up the alley your looking for. The Tetsuo films if your into cyber punk. Holy Mountain and El Topo by Alejandro Jodorowsky are like watching an abstractist painting. There are TONS of "weird dark comedies" its almost a sub-genre in and of itself. Also, watch Troll Hunter, its not "Weird" Per say, I just tell everybody to watch it.

Takashi Miike 1. Gozu 2. Ichi Killer (contains lots of graphical violence) If you like him you might watch his other works

Shinya Tsukamoto 1. Tetsuo 2. Bullet Ballet 3. Tokyo Fist (Weird movies is his cup of tea)

Oliver Stone 1. Natural Born Killers

    Sogo Ishii 1. Electric Dragon 80.000 V

Gen Sekiguchi 1. Survive Style 5+
