A Funny thing Happened to Me on the Way to Battle...

Just venting, but curious to see if anyone else has had my dumb luck...

Was moving two general units to my production town to get them some troops, but they got ambushed by remnants of a rebel army. Odds were against them obviously, but... Drilled down to the battle map and there were my brave and valiant generals on one side of the river and 3 beaten up Rebel Levy Infantry units on the other side of the river.

And no way across the river.

What the -?

Yes, I know... if only I'd played with the battle timer on...

But I didn't. Had to escape out and concede defeat.

Scratch one General.

Ah well, at least the landscape and river were nice to look at.

LOL. Oddly enough something really similar happened to me Medieval 2 a few weeks ago. My army was one side of a mountain and the enemy was on the other side with no way to reach them. Seems legit -_-

Is that the map with the chunk of land in the corner then the river separating it from the bulk of the map. That would make a nice defensible position if it was accessible.

Yeah that was an irritation I don't miss. On one map I figured out you could move a single unit manually bit by bit thru a narrow stretch until they were finally able to attack but it wasn't worth the effort.

Do units still drown if the accidentally walk into the river?

My enemy were on the other side of the lake, too.

Im pretty sure they tried to swim over to my side, and they all drowned.

So....

The easiest battle I've ever fought in a TW game.

Interesting, I`ve never seen a river in which there was no way to cross in STW2. There`s always a little way to wade through.

There probably was a way across, it was just likely generated outside the battle map... load of good it is to you out there >.>

I've had something similar, the river had only one shallow water crossing but it was cut in half by the Battle Map border which meant I had 2 full stacks (1 for me and 1 AI) getting across what wasn't anymore than 20 yards wide. Was quite fun though just massacring the AI in that small crossing
