Default Divinitation Practice in a Courtyard

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

OOC : Just like the last one, will be offering Tessomancy and Cartomancy readings, perhaps a few crystal ball ones as welln for anyone who shows up. Or I'll just do a few npc ones

Violeta sits in one of the many Courtyards, watching a few leaves be blown by a small gust of wind before returning to staring into a cup of tea a first year Slytherin was holding, and inspecting the leaves. "What do they say?" "The sign of the Acorn is there..meaning you have a windfall ahead of you, and the cross..suffering, trials. Do you struggle in a class?" "Perhaps..thank you." Violeta nods as the first year scurries off, and is rejoined by her cousin Ashley."At it again?" "Yes, I have to keep practicing or I could end up losing my talent." Ashley sits across from Violeta as she starts to shuffle the deck of tarot cards.

Weatherby had been avoiding Violeta since the Hogwarts Express, for a variety of reasons, amongst them run-ins with older Slytherins, her mysterious words about his sister, and the dreams... always the dreams. He had need to speak with her - and as he was strolling between classes, he spotted Violeta and Ashley in the courtyard. A first-year was scurrying off, no doubt with a new fortune in her mind, leaving the pair of girls alone. Weatherby paused his stroll for a moment, finding his resolve - he then resumed his stroll past the girls, pretending to notice them for the first time.

"Oh! Hello girls," he said. "Err... lovely out, isn't it?"

"Hi. Indeed it is rather nice out." "Hello.." Violeta hands the cards to Ashley. "Fine." Ashley shuffles them for Violeta, and hands them back to her and then watches as she assembles them into the Celtic Cross. "First Card is the Five of Swords, followed by the Hermit Major arcana..hm..the Five means something is hidden from you, and the Hermit withdrawal to gain knowledge..perhaps they are connected?" "Ha, funny. Just like the last time you said those three cards connected meant i would have bad luck the entire day of us leaving for school." Violeta rolls her eyes and goes back to reading the cards while Ashley smiles at Weatherby. "So, did you try out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team?"

Weatherby nodded. "Went out for Seeker. Cecil and I are both waiting to hear back from the captain, to see if we made the team. If we make it, can we expect to be playing against you?"

He next turned to Violeta. "Err... I don't mean to interrupt your reading, Violeta - I know I've said in the past that I wasn't interested in having my fortune read... but do you think you could give it a go for me? But not with cards or tea leaves..."

"Yeah, you will. Haven't heard what position I'll be playing, but in tryouts I wanted to be a Beater."

Violeta looks up from the cards, having reached the seventh card of the formation. "I suppose. Ashley's fortune doesn't seem that interesting other than the fact she may face a challenge of some sorts soon." She puts the cards back into the deck and quickly shuffles them before offering the deck to Weatherby to shuffle.

Weatherby idly cut the deck and shuffled the cards in his hand for a few moments, staring at his feet. He didn't move to return the deck quite yet. "I... err... can you divine from dreams, Violeta?"

"Dreams?" She thinks for a few seconds. "It is considered one of the arts of Divinitation, but I personally believe it to be somewhat unreliable compared to tessomancy, Cartomancy, and some of the other methods..but it is possible..at least the books I've read say so..why?"

Weatherby shifted on his feet a few times, clearly uncomfortable. "I... well, I've had this one dream a few times. I mean I've had nightmares before," Weatherby said, pausing to cough. He didn't want to seem like a baby in front of his friends - part of his reason for taking so long to approach Violeta. "But they were never that bad, really. These ones though... they just feel... real, somehow."

"Hm..could be something other than a dream, if it feels real to you.If you don't mind, would you describe it a little?"

Weatherby took a seat beside the girls. "Well... there's a man. Only he's not a man. He's... well its hard to say. It's like he's made up of clouds. Clouds, and birds. Crows, specifically."

Ashley looks confused, staring back and forth between the two while Violeta is thinking. "Perhaps it is a sign of something you have to face in the future..so, this crow man..does he do anything in the dream, or just appear?"

Weatherby shakes his head. His face is growing slightly pinker with embarrassment as the conversation goes on. "He doesn't really do much. He shushes me. Like this," he said, pantomiming by placing his finger in front of his lips.

"Hm. Perhaps it's a sign of a secret that is being kept from you, may have something to do with crows..I'm sorry if I don't sound helpful, but..I haven't studied dreams that much.." She sighs. "If something attacks you in the dream, perhaps that may mean the secret is dangerous to you.."

Weatherby silently imagined the dream for a moment - the birds never attacked him, and neither did the strange bird-faced man, but their rabid cawing and innumerable swarms always smothered him into nothingness... "No attacks. At least not yet. It all just sort of... happens around me. And I'm frozen in place, unable to do anything about it."

"Hm...it sounds as if this birdman presents some fear, secret, or challenge you have to overcome, that right now you are too afraid of to face, represented by your being frozen during it. Crows..ehm..I believe they mean death or something dark..the clouds may be a mask of the truth." She thinks for a second. "At least that is what I believe this to mean. I could look into it and try to analyze this by comparing it to the cards, perhaps to see if there is any connection..but it may be beyond my abilities right now.."

Walking through the courtyard on his way to the library, he noticed Weatherby speaking with the Dalca sisters. He remembered speaking with one of them once, he forgot which one though, considering how similar the two looked. He decided he might as well strike up a conversation to pass the time, research could wait.
Walking up to them, he spoke.
"Hello again Weatherby, and the Dalca twins, what seems to be happening?"Noticing the cards, along with the crystal ball, he continues."Oh, divination practice, doesn't it seem a little early to do that? We don't start divination until third year, after all."

Ashley and Violeta look at Augustus, slightly annoyed. "Hello...also, we are not twins. Cousins." "Yeah." "No. I find Divinitation to be fascinating..more enjoyable that herbology..shame the school doesn't allow for it to start earlier..I would've taken it my first year."

Weatherby realized that he was still holding the deck of cards in his hands. His knuckles had assumed a white twinge from the tight grip. "Oh, right. Here," he said, handing the deck back to Violeta.

Weatherby looked up at Augustus' approach. He looked into Violeta's eyes briefly, before glancing back at the approaching Ravenclaw. "Hello, Augustus. Just having my fortune read."
Violeta takes the cards back and casually shuffles them, occassionally looking at a card, as if looking for one in particular.
Cecil was strolling through the courtyard once again, fresh from a session of practicing hexes and charms, when he stumbled upon the Dalcas, Weatherby and Augustus. Huh, Ashley and Violeta are always here for some reason...Disregarding the thought, he waved over and walked up to them. "Hey Ashley, Violeta, Weatherby and Augustus. What's up?"
"Hey Cecil. Not much..Weatherby and I are being used as test subjects by her." She points to Violeta, who is too busy staring at the cards to notices Cecil.

"Heh, business as usual then, huh?" Cecil stopped to stand next to Ashley, and watched Violeta shuffling her deck. "So what and who's this about, then?"

Realizing his horrible blunder, he attempted to reconcile with the two, he didn't want to lose any chance of befriending them, at the least.
"Sorry about that, the two of you look quite similar, so I was under the assumption you were twins. I apologize if that angered you in any way."

Turning to Cecil this time, he responded.
"Good day to you as well Cecil, it's been a while since we last spoke outside of class, wasn't that when I mentioned the Thestrals pulling the carriages?"
