    Default Why Are Drop-Ins Default?

It has been rather annoying lately that it seems CA took the liberty to automatically select to look for drop-in players every time you start a new game. Why? I hate drop-ins, if I wanted to play multiplayer I'd go do that.

I'm just slightly annoyed that I now have to remember to uncheck that box every damn game. It's a minute issue, but it's still annoying.

I believe you can turn it off when you start the campaign.

This is exceedingly annoying for me. It's rather flawed to assume someone playing a SP game would, by default, want drop-in battles. I wouldn't bother counting how many times I didn't hit the "x" button at the right time to get out of the drop-in battle, thereby annoying myself and whomever connected. I don't mind the option sitting there, but it should be off by default.

I thought this was an odd default as well. The other thing that is odd is that even if I turn this option off before I start the campaign in the "more options" section, often my first battle goes out to look for a player anyways. A minor annoyance, I admit.

Agreed +Rep. I was going to make a thread about it. Sometimes it even re-enables itself.

Now I always go Offline (off the net completely) when I play so having that `connection fail` crap is really annoying. There are times that CA`s obsession with Steam and multiplay (and adverts I might add) actually becomes an obstacle for the Single Player. Stop it, CA. Just stop.

CA, you need to make that `Drop In` rubbish stay OFF when we select OFF.

I guess they're just trying to force feed multiplayer to people.

This would explain why the only drop in battles ever available are the first 1-2 battles in a campaign.

Drop in is a great feature. I haven't played a FotS campaign yet as I'm much more into the MP at the moment, but I loved drop in on vanilla Shogun. It would make a steamroller battle into more of a challenge. And more often than not, I would get a message saying "Oh my god, I have more than 3 units of yari ash to fight with!"

I know, this isn't the point of the thread. It should be off by default. On that I agree. But CA should do something to encourage drop in battles. God knows its more entertaining than beating back the same stupid battle AI over and over and over again.

I really think it`s this. It`s the only logical explanation when every other setting in the game stays as you have selected forever, except this one.

`We don`t mind what mode you play in, but we`ll just annoy you if you choose SP by making you have to switch off `Drop in` every campaign. Why because we think it`s brilliant and you should want it, like Steam!`
    Annoying.

i just unclick it once and never think about it again. it doesn't even have a chance to bother me as it is so easy to just unclick it. if there was some procedure to disable them each campaign then I could understand it being annoying. or are some people having to unclick it every battle?

Same here. Every single time I start a new session of Shogun, whether it's a new campaign, loading mid campaign etc. I have to uncheck the box. And it annoys me. I play singleplayer because I like to relax and not have to deal with the ultra competitive box-in-the-corner-and-wait-for-an-hour crowd. I dont want to bring that crowd in on my relaxing stroll across Japan.

Understood. I had no idea that some folks had to disable it every session. That would be annoying.

I've never had drop-in battles turn on by itself. Even after I deleted some files to try and unmod my game, the drop-ins were disabled by default, or at least, left turned off from when I turned them off last time.

Yeah, but Im thinking it might be some kind of weird bug, or issue with you guys' games.

My game doesn't do this. As a matter of fact, my game had drop-in's off by default.
