    Default The Sorting Ceremony

A pair of large doors would open, revealing the Great Hall to returning students. Many of the older years had already been seated and the professors along with Headmaster sat at the end of the hall, awaiting the Sorting to begin.

The first years would enter, noticing a stool with a strange hat upon it. The Sorting Hat sat there, waiting for when it was time to begin sorting new students into their respective houses.

James sat at the head of the staff table and looked at the new First years. He had rather a few warnings this year however he would let the sorting take place first...

Arthur sat and watched the first years, trying to pick out the likely Gryffindors.

Atticus was already seated. He remembered his own sorting well. That damned Squid had almost killed him on his first day. He hoped that nothing as ridiculous would hamper this year's sorting. As the new First years entered the Great Hall Atticus eyed them with little interest. He was more concerned with the food.

Having already taken a seat at the Ravenclaw table, Augustus waited for the sorting to begin. Truly, he didn't remember much about his sorting, although he vaguely remembered the Sorting Hat calling him a twerp for thinking in a different language, which hardly made sense.

Cecil took his seat next to Weatherby, eagerly watching the First Years and not even bothering to hide his hopes that most of them would get into Gryffindor. "Hey, Weatherby...or should I say, Big-Wig?" He chuckled, "Think your sister will join us? Man, I sure hope so..."

Weatherby plopped down excitedly at the Gryffindor table, equally excited to watch his sister be Sorted (into Gryffindor, he hoped) and to feast upon the Pumpkin Pasties that were sure to come.

Abigail Petunia sat on the teachers table, behind the great podium. She occupied the former seat of Professor Song, and only now was she beginning to comprehend the scale of her new occupation. She chatted lightly with the other teachers, introducing herself.

Weatherby groaned. "You know, I thought that Wave would give me a few weeks before starting to reveal all of my secrets, but oh well." He shook his head, resigning himself to a laugh. "She's got a good heart and a good head. I think she's more Gryffindor than even I am. I'd wager ten galleons that she'll be with us."

"Sure hope so. She has a good heart though, right? Then maybe she'll land in Hufflepuff. She'll have Ashley and Fritz to keep her company there too, so she'll be fine. And anyway, if she can't land here with us then any house will be better than Slytherin, seriously...if she just hangs out with Atticus then I can't really see a problem, but can you imagine her ending up in Rinok's company?"

"The Hat will probably consider Hufflepuff for her," Weatherby conceded. "I don't have many friends in Ravenclaw, so I do hope she won't go there as I won't be able to look out for her. And I swear, I will go right up and throttle the Hat if it puts her in Slytherin."

"Yeah, I'd be right behind you there..."
The Sorting begins. A few students step forth and are sorted into their respective houses. The Sorting Hat mumbles and then shouts of their chosen house. Finally, Waverly Wiggins came forth. The hat is set upon her head and it begins to speak to her.

Hmmmm...a rather smart brain you have. Hmmm...you are also related to that boy Weatherby I see. Let see what else we can find.

The Sorting Hat moved, reading her thoughts as it was enchanted with Legilimency.

Strong and caring heart. Room for more potential and...a strong desire for bravery. I know just the house for you, Waverly.

The Hat then opens its mouth and bellows.

    better be....Gryffindor!!
Cecil forgot the rest of his response as Waverly was Sorted into Gryffindor, instead immediately joining the rest of Gryffindor in applauding her. "Hah! Think that Hat could read your mind too, and figured it wouldn't be worth the risk annoying you by slapping her with Slytherin?" He laughed.

Violeta sits at the Slytherin table, remaining quiet as she watches the first years enter, wondering if the prediction will come true. Ashley, over at the Hufflepuff table, talks to a few Hufflepuffs.

Hmmmm...now this one is interesting. You are also related to that boy Weatherby I see. Let see what else we can find.

A few more students would be sorted...then finally came León Iñaki Santander Morales's turn. The Sorting Hat would be placed upon his head. The Hat came to life once more and spoke to León.

Rather interesting character. A tough soul, a good listener, and very calm...kind-hearted as well. You would suited well for a certain house in mind. Now whats this, hard to socialize...well then. I have a perfect house for you. One that will help you with that flaw.

The Hat then opened its mouth and bellowed.

    Ravenclaw!!

The next year for Hogwarts had arrived. Many students piled in as old and new friends came together. The ghosts prepared themselves for the welcome of new students. The doors would open seconds later, revealing a large group of first years. After a few sortings, Drake Cadmus Leviathan came forth. The hat was set upon his head.

The Sorting Hat stirs and yawns. It turns slightly and begins to speak.

Pride for your lineage...and a dark heart I can see. You are smart and cunning, like a snake I can sense. You wish to gain power to prove yourself worthy of your blood.

The Sorting Hat stirs and opens it mouth.

Weatherby tossed the pair of pumpkin pasties that he had been grasping into the air wildy, bursting into applause of his own. "Way to go, Waverly! Well done, well done!" He leaned to Cecil and threw a celebratory arm around him. "I suppose the Hat did read me - it would've been in the Hospital Wing for weeks after I was through with it, and that's if I didn't put it straight into the garbage heap!"

Waverly ran forward to the Gryffindor table and sat amongst the growing crowd of new first-years, her back assaulted by the pats of dozens of her new Housemates.

Violeta smirks as the hat sorted Leon. She looks at Atticus, clearly pleased. "Seems my prediction was true. Shame I couldn't predict that my cousin and I would be separated by the hat last year.."

León finally joyfully sighed when he listened the Sorting Hat's decision; Ravenclaw would be, from now on, the house he would represent; León promised to himself, as he was walking to the Ravenclaw's table, where several members where applauding him, that he will give the best of him.

He sat near some new students, which also congrutaled him, as León congratulated them too. A big smile sprouted from his mouth, he almost felt at home.
