    Default Hogwarts Greenhouses: Herbology

    The Greenhouses from the sky

Welcome to Herbology, currently taught by Professor Petunia.

The Greenhouses are where Herbology lessons are taught, consisting of seven Greenhouses. Greenhouse One houses the youngest and safest of Hogwart's many plants, and used by first-years in their lessons. Greenhouse Two is a more intermediate classroom, mostly used for theory and textbook work, for years two to seven. Greenhouse Three houses some of the the actual fauna and plantlife, such as Mandrakes and Leaping Toadstools. It is utilised for practical study for years two to seven. Greenhouse Four, Five, Six and Seven are used for advanced Herbology students, the latter three for those who are taking it at N.E.W.T level. In addition, these Greenhouses hold the vast majority of the fauna kept in the school. Finally, there is the Professor's private office, where only the most dangerous and exotic plants, such as the famous Venomous Tentacula are kept, under the personal care of the Professor. In addition to Herbology, the Greenhouses are vital in supplying the school, in particular Potion classes, with vital horticultural ingridents.

(Classes begin 24 hours after the Sorting Ceremony, so yeah, turn up. Classes will last 3-4 days depending on the length of each lesson, and there will be 3-4 Classes each year, with the last Class being a final year exam. Dice rolls will determine success, though there will be modifiers for RP, and your actual points in Herbology.)

OOC: You can start turning up for class now. I've got the lesson plans in my head, where they will be safe

Weatherby arrived at the Greenhouses bright and early - he felt as if he should be making up for lost time given the nature of the past term, so resolved to cut no corners. He towed along his herbologist's brigandine from last term, in case he could make use of it. He had spent good Galleons on the thing at Professor Song's request, after all.

Cecil arrived after Weatherby, carrying last year's brigandine with him. He had had trouble fitting his taller figure into it, but had neglected getting a new refitted one - he'd like to save up for a Nimbus 2000, and figured nothing too bad could come out of wearing the rather tight brigandine anyway.

Violeta and Ashley show up with their Brigandines and textbooks. Neither one looks very interested in Herbology after the lack of teaching last year.

Atticus arrived with all the requisite materials and eagerly awaited the professor to begin the class. He had been looking forward to a proper herbology lesson all summer.

Sidious came in and sat in the first rows. 3 teachers in one year, I wonder if this is the new cursed position.

Fritz arrived, wearing his old brgandine, with the same thoughts that Cecil had, except he was hoping for a Comet.

León arrived to the greenhouses, happy to be once for a while out of that prison which some people call "Castle"; He found rather displising the grim atmosphere which emanated from the castle, so a few sun rays on his skin would surely cheer him up. After checking that he had all the equipment, he adjusted his brigandine and entered to the greenhouse where the class was about to begin.

OOC: Since most of you are here, let's get started. Ish. I've got to go to sleep in five mins, so it'll be a little disjointed

As the students slowly began to arrive on the outskirts of the Greenhouses, notices indicated for both the first years and second years to head to Greenhouse Two. The Greenhouse had mostly be cleared of much of its fauna - large sections of the shelves ringing the Greenhouse had been left empty for today's lesson, and a large table directly in the centre of the Greenhouse hosted a large collection of Baby Mandrakes, within modest pots, and larger pots right next to each one. From an entrance on the other side of the Greenhouse came Professor Petunia, her floral garments obscured by her own Brigandine, although it was greatly muddied and worn.

'A very good morning to you children. I am Professor Petunia, your new Herbology Teacher. Now, I understand there was a great deal of disruption regarding last year's Herbology Lessons. Needless to say, this may set us back a little concerning this year's studies. However, I also understand you did a great deal of theory work regarding Mandrakes. As such, we are perfectly ready to perform today's lesson. Yes, today we will be re-potting Baby Mandrakes, and I will show you the careful, subtle art of doing so.'

Abigail smiled, before walking closer to the group.

'Now, of course, our First Years are a little less informed regarding these lovely plants than you are, dear Second Years. So, let us recap on Mandrakes for a moment. I do hope you haven't forgotten about them over the holidays. Now, who can explain anything about Mandrakes to the younger ones? Anybody?'

Violeta cautiously raises her hand. "Their cry can be fatal when adults..?"

Atticus raised his hand and responded

Mandrakes are a magical plant with several distinctive characteristics. Adult mandrakes have healing properties when extracted and brewed by a competent wizard, but they can also be deadly. Their cries, which erupt from them whenever they are disturbed, could be lethal.

León was intrigued by what the girl had just said. After all, he didn't see logical that a school let its students manage dangerous thing, such as the mandrake. "That would only made them get sued" thought León.

'Wonderful, excellent explanations. Especially you, Atticus, Five Points to Slytherin. Now of course Adult Mandrakes would be woefully dangerous to be using for today's lesson, so we have some baby ones instead. Their scream is weaker, though still could knock you children out cold. So, safety first! Please, put on your Brigandines, aswell as those Earmuffs and Gloves over there.'

She gestured to a modest table, where two distinct piles of Earmuffs and Gloves were placed.

Violeta and Ashley put on their brigantines, and then get a pair of earmuffs and gloves each, putting them on, and then following Atticus to the pots.

Cecil hurried to grab himself a pair of non-pink earmuffs and gloves, and after fastening both on, took his position behind another pot and awaited further instructions.

Weatherby joined Cecil, gathering up and putting on his gear before choosing an adjacent pot. "I'm really going to like Professor Petunia. She's something else, isn't she?" Meant to be a whisper, the earmuffs on his head made him speak louder than he had intended.

Cecil could barely hear Weatherby, due to his own earmuffs. "Yeah, she seems pretty nice. Looks like we won't have any issues with her, in fact I might come to like this class, heh..."

    OOC: I was busy, dangit

Augustus, after having slipped on his brigandine, which was starting to feel uncomfortable, quickly grabbed a pair of ear muffs and gloves.
