Default New Gaming Rig (Need Advice/Suggestion)

Ok. It's time for me to get a new rig. Strictly speaking I don't have specific budget but certainly looking for best bang for buck setup which is strictly for gaming purposes. Let's use current Shogun 2 all ultra/all box ticked for reference purpose.

    For the CPU should I get i5 2500k, i7 2600/2700k or LGA2011 base processor like i7 3820 (don't think I need 6 core processor for gaming though).

If I stick with LGA1155 CPU what's the difference between z68 and z77 in terms of features/performance/ports etc.

I probably get AMD for GPU instead of nVidia cause I think getting GTX680 is too much.

Here's 2 link which shows the local price as I will be probably going there to buy the parts and assemble themselves.

    Thanks.

3820 is a quad core. I just set up a rig like that and its good for OCing and gaming.

The main advantage of a 2011 system at this point is that its better for multiple graphics cards in an SLI/Crossfire set up, and from what I understand it will be the socket used for Ivy bridge, so you can get rid of your 3820 in the future and put in an Ivy chip, though if its worth it will be seen later.

I went for "buck" more than bang with my system and I'm quite happy with it, but if you are making a gaming rig that you don't plan on upgrading again, running a single GPU, you won't see much difference between a i7-2700k and a 3820.

If I recall the 3820 is a bit cheaper but the mobo's are more so its kinda a wash there.

Personally I'd go with the 3820.

I don't plan to OC as of this moment but would like to keep the option open so I guess it's be between i5 2500k or i72700k. However on stock will there be much diffeence between i5 and i3 ?

Yes. 3820 is a bit cheaper but the motherboard is more expensive. IIRC some cheaper boards don't have usb 3.0.

cheapest setup biggest bang for buck, multi gpu Socket 2011 is better, granted Ivy Bridge will debut on socket 1155 Ivy Bridge-E which will replace Sandy Bridge-E is still a long ways off,

if you do alot of heavy multi threading the socket 2011 system offers better performance but for typical uses 1155 is the better price / performance setup
Strictly for gaming and normal web use. No heavier use and probably no more modding.. I believe in single powerful GPU than 2 mid range in SLI/CFX but having spare lanes in advance is a btter option, just in case.

then Z77 + 2500k then cheaper and most bang for buck and who ever said 2x mid range gpus lulz go big or go home is how i roll but regardless yea 2500k + aftermarket cooling on a Biostar Z77XE4 will give you damn good performance a good overclock and support for SLI / Xfire in the future, the boards are damn solid, to the point im hoping to acquire one myself for my Ivy Bridge build

Can you suggest some set up ? Base around 2500k ? If possible use the list base on my OP.. Doesn't matter the budget but if I can get the same +/-1 of USD 5000 then USD 2500 then surely I'll go for the USD 2500 ...

The price list is base in Malaysian ringgit though and usually if one bought all stuff from the same shop then they'll assemble for free. I'm looking for a totally new set including monitor/speaker/keyboard/mouse etc. Planned on getting 23-24" monitor only.
