    Default New here!

Hi! I just ordered Shogun 2 and I am eager to start modding. I have done Medieval II text editing, and I have heard that it is a lot harder for Shogun 2. Can anybody tell me how I can start doing some basic coding for Shogun 2. Thanks!

Hi, text editing in Shogun 2 revolves around .packs which the game reads to determine basically everything. The tool to read packs is PFM (Pack File Manager) and it reads the db (the container for the information like stats). PFM then takes all the files from the db and puts them into tables. Which are modifiable and read in a a Microsoft Excel style spreadsheet. An example of a simple mod would be Unit cost mod.pack/db/unit_tables/units.
