Default What would be the best skill tree for a general?

Playing as Mori, all of clan heirs were wiped out in battles with Chosokabe - Date - Shimazu coalition.

I had made them all strategists, turned out to be much helpful but they somehow managed to come in the crossfire and died. And my Daimyo was very old, so I thought I was about to lose soon.

But then a last remaining son, about whom I forgot, came of age. The old Daimyo died the next season. And only the new young Daimyo is remaining.

So I would like to ask, which would be the best skill tree for him? I personally prefer 'Warrior' line, because I cannot risk losing him, or I will lose a campaign I worked so hard for. But then, I want him to be a good general because he is a poor one currently.

Another factor is that my Generals have to fight personally in the battle due to less number of cavalry and land units. So in that case, what would you suggest? I am currently defending my lands, because the offensive state died out with the Shimazu capturing Iwami and forcing me to rush.

    Depends on your playstyle.

ust to let you know, I believe if you lose him, someone else will take over. I don't think you'll lose the campaign.

DOn't quote me on this, though.

But, I have found the best way to not get your generals killed, is to not let them get in combat.

Unlike Medieval 2 TW, you won't lose your campaign even if you lose every single one of your generals.

You will get -4 to happiness from "mourning" penalty for about 12 turns though LOL

That and having no damiyo gives -1 to happiness from damiyo's dishonor.

    Strategists.
But I like having one warrior general because they are awesome.

Pirate Generals are cool too. Give you more command stars while at sea, and get tons of money from Looting, pretty easy to gain levels as them too.

But yeah as far as generals go, strategist is pretty much the best

BTW, he is the last general remaining.......

Oh, didn't know that 'mourning' phase. Really tense.

But the real problem has started - I am now short of money as well as land units. In that case, I am finding it hard to choose. Battle or generals...... probably because I need to win battles desperately, and at the same time protect that Mori Takashige (the young daimyo)

As for my playing style, I use my generals as "cavalry heroes" by making them personally involved in most fights, so they level up easily.

And one thing is all the provinces are on the verge of revolt, except some which include Aki.

Edit: Is naval strategy going to be helpful at this stage? Probably to conquer that small island near Uesugi starting position..

Well, you`ve basically answered your own question. Focus your General with the skills that will help him offence and defence in warfare, especially personal melee skills, since that`s his big pressure at the moment.
