Personal background/small biography:
Andrade lived most of his infancy in the capital of Bahia, Salvador. His mother was a writter and his father was the owner of a small "botequim", a small open bar in the Cidade Alta. His mother gave him a strong interest in literature ever since tender age, but it was the memorable talks in his father's bar that showed Henri his life passion. The bar was a famous tourist stop, and many people from around the quadrant would go there to drink a traditional brazillian cachaça and hear a soothing samba.
Henri's father, João Costa de Andrade, was a calm and easy going man, famed for his ability to seamingly get along with any type of person that entered his bar. His son one day asked him how could he do that and his father would say "You have to look things through the person's eyes. People are sometimes too stuck in their own heads, and then complain they can't understand others. Well, that's the reason." and he'd snigger.
His mother's name was Maria Vieira de Andrade. She was much of a free spirit and would go through the quadrant to divulge her books and also make debates on politics and philosophy. Sometimes she would take Henri, but the lad in his youth always found them boring and wanted nothing to do with it.
While on their way to a more far out corner of the quadrant, the ship that was carrying Maria disappeared for many weeks. The news was everywhere and many people, especially on Earth, questioned what happened to the popular writter and the others who were on the ship. One day the ship was found adrift near Bajor and the authorities searched to find survivers. Of the 200 passangers, only five survived, in a state of shock and with severe memory loss. One of them was Henri's mother.
She was taken back home to Earth where a rehabilitation iniciated. But she never was the same. Many times she would forget who she was, or forget who was around her, and she was prone to panic attacks and could become sometimes violent. Henri, his two brothers and his father did their best to take care of her, but there came a moment when Henri felt he could not stay in that house anymore. He entered Starfleet Academy, everytime saying to himself that he was trying to make a future for himself, but knowing deep down that he was just trying to run away from his home. He graduated with good marks and was placed in an office in Earth, stuck in an office doing paperwork for the Foreign Affairs Department. After two years of that he was placed on Ramatis III, where he served as ambassador to the Federation on the friendly planet. After three years working in Ramatis III he was given the opportunity to work on an exploration mission in the USS Indefatigable, where the presence of qualified diplomats would be warranted. He accepted the job, feeling the need to breathe new air in a different scenario and went with the USS Caroline to rendezvous with the USS Indefatigable.
