    Default The Marka barded horse project submod (update 02/05/12)


    Hi guys. I decided to create some new barded horses for TATW using the Marka horses created by the Rusichi team. Actually I just reskinned the horses created by the Rusich team with a ME theme. The Rusichi team gave us the material to create any kind of horses we want. It only takes a little modding skills to do it. So I have created 3 new mounts for Gondor.

    The rider is the Dol Amroth squire from the old Taro_M mod.

    This only include the horses, Im not releasing any material from Taro_M or Curufin or vanilla TATW or any other mod. RIDERS NOT INCLUDED

    README!
    This version includes the models and textures but it doesnt include the necessary text files to be added to TATW. I will post the info necessary to add them manually below. In the near future I plan to release a plug and play version for TATW 3.1. Until then, you need to paste the folder in the download to your ATTW folder and add this info manually to the battle_models file and descr_mount file and them assign the horse in the export_descr_unit file. In the meantime, if anybody makes a plug and play version I will be very thankful and credit you as coder.

    Replace the TATW folder with the one I posted and just choose whichever Gondorian unit you want and replace
    its mount by any of the new entries (barded horse6, barded horse5, barded horse4) like in this example:

    Concerning the Dol Amroth horse, is it normal that the color of the barding doesn't match the color of the horseman? It seems kinda weird to me.

    I have deduced, from your knowledge of Middle-Earth background, that you read scrupulously History of Middle Earth. Given your close-minded opinion on various aspects of Tolkien lore in detriment of TATW interest and gameplay, I believe that
    you are better suited to that reading activity, and suggest you go back to it.
    I guess it could work for some guys with Battle of Middle Earth as well...

    EDIT:
    A ctd cuased thanks to the lack of the word "mount" before the horse's mesh.
    Always use that form:
    mount_Gondorian_barded_horse_lod0.mesh
    You should create a plug and play patch with all the needed changes in every folder that are required.
    Atleast for the main TATW 3.1.

    Actually Im not really part of pcp. I just did some minor contribution to alreadyded's project. Alreadyded is a one man army, hehe. If he wants he can include them. It is a free resource for anybody that wants to use them, just need to credit the original creators (Rusichi team) since I basically did a retexture of their great horses.

    I can easily change the colour so it will match any horsemen. I used the basic colour of Curufin's DA soldier as test. As soon as Taro_M releases his DA units I can make a matching colour just by sampling the colour of the unit and applying in to the texture.

    Weird. In my version it worked with that exactly coding info, no mount in the name of the entry.
    Taro_M and Anthonius, check your pm. I sent you the base psd (phototshop format) files. It will make it easier to work with the files. I needed to do some changes by using a new hue/saturation layer instead of just simple recolouring. You will understand when you open the psd files. Feel free to use them the way you want, just credit the Rusichi team.

    Gentlemen with the primary help of paradamed you may have all unchanged horses from TATW 3.1 changed.
    Here is a small teaser of how it can be done.
    Soon a tiny tutorial will be released of how anyone can replace and modify marka horses.


    This will be my contribution to paradame's permision to use his barded horse model. I always return the favors.

    All it needs is new normal maping in the "new" textures (metal parts are too shiny because i have 0% expirience in normal maping).
    The new model will be sent to paradamed for further skining work.

    Check you pms.
    Also check the ms3d model that has some vertices re-assignment on the low armor ones based on TGC armored horses expirience. The twicks reduse some of the upleasant effects of the armors when horses galop.
    Dale uses two similar horses.
    If you provide the needed new armor textures based on those that exist we are going to replace them too.

    EDIT: Rhun has a model that can be replaced.
    And we can make a horse for the Rohan bodyguards based on the horse of th eRohan King in the movie.

    Cool. I will work on these asap.
    Here's the pic of the new horses with the correct normal. All thanks to Anthonius, KK and the Rusichi team. All I did was the texture for the barding and the normal map. I will wait for KK's permission to release this new horse since the head piece of the horse was created by him. I sent him a pm. In the meantime I will check the structure of the Dale horses and I will start to work on them. Once again, thank you very much Anthonius.

    I think Rohan could use a couple of barded horse units or three, this way they would be heavier but still remain their characteristic flexibility.

    Rohan could use "barded" horses only for the General's bodyguard based on the concept of the horse the King of Rohan used.
    A combination of what already the TATW team done with body armors of this style.

    But the Rohan horse as the Rhun one will be done last.
    Forthunatly the TATW 3.1 horses with the combination of the new barded horse of paradamed can replace 4-5 already existing horses with out any need of changing anything in the vanilla 3.1.
    We will create a plug and play patch for clean 3.1 mod's version.

    CONFIRMED: paradamed's new textures are much much better now!
