The holodeck.

The best place to indulge ones flights of fancy. Anything that you can imagine, can be programmed and acted out. Safety is on by default, and only a command officer can disengage it.

Malic was bored. Seriously bored. Since coming on board, he'd had a single drink in the mess, met the captain and been treated like some sort of uncouth bug, and then stood in the security office for hours while the chief had seemingly forgotten about him. It was not a good start to the mission, and Malic was feeling irritated by it. Entering the holodeck, he decides to spend a couple of hours relaxing, and programmes in one of his favourite senarios.

THIS DAMN SHIP!

Malic swears as he sees that the programme isn't included in the database. Great, now he gets to spend several hours programming it if he wants to use it in future. Looking though the database, he sees very little outside of starfleet programmes have been included. They are probably in the archive somewhere, but since he's not an engineer he doesn't have access to it. Eventually he settles on a programme, it doesn't look great, but its better than nothing. Typing in the code the scene appears before him.

Its an early mission log from before the founding of the federation, onboard the first NX class starship. Under the command of Captain Archer. Sighing he doesn't even know which log it is, something to do with klingons...
