    Default Quick Question

I just got a new computer from Monarch. When i ordered the comp i didnt order a nic or a Sound card as i had good ones already with my older comp.

Just received the computer today and i cannot fit any more cards in it as i have dual 7900 GTX and its taking up all the room inside the motherboard.

Basically i want to know what my options are for sound mainly as i can use nic through onboard.

    Thanks any help is appreciated.

The mobo i got it is the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe.

That's strange, usually there are a few open PCI slots... Do you not have onboard sound?

Well there are open slots but because of the SLI there is no room to get one in really.

look at this pic. The blue and the black slots are the PCI Express. The only one that is feasible is the on to thr right of the black PCI express.

But it would be right up against the fan of one of my video cards.

    Hey thanks man.

I just check online and Creative has some 24 bit USB sound card.

Think i should just stick with Onboard or give this a shot?

    It's $50.

I have that motherboard...you should be able to fit the sound card in at the bottom PCI slot (it may be tight but it should fit), and also, check the chipset fan, if it is the old one that runs at 10 000rpm it will die in a few months and you would be better off replacing it with passive cooling.

The onboard sound is decent but won't give you surround sound or EAX or any bells and whistles, so in a gaming computer is will detract from the experience.

    bump.

I tried both that i posted here. I used the onboard sound and also purchased a 24bit USB sound card. Only problem is that when im using the USB one and listening to music or doing anything that ha smusic in the background it will skip. As for the onboard sound i think something is blown out with it as only one speaker works now.

    What are my options here?

Try testing different speakers with the board. Are all the proper drivers installed?
