Small Biography: Tobias spent his early years within the New Providence colony, the son of two prominent researchers into colonial psychology. Broadened by this upbringing in an alien environment full of erudite individuals Tobias excelled, attaining recognition as a highly promising scientist and a year scholarship with a Starfleet youth program.

Leaving the near idyllic colony and the supportive framework of a closed community, Tobias struggled to adapt, never progressing quite as meteorically as predicted. Frustrated he readied for the return to New Providence, only for news to reach of its destruction in a Borg incursion. In the sector's resulting panic Tobias found himself cared for by Starfleet; unsettled, grieving and robbed of the security his home provided he found comfort working with his ship's science division. The nurture and general adoption of the department comforted the despondent youth and set his mind on a career as a Starfleet science officer.

Passing through basic training with excellent if not extraordinary marks Tobias served on the USS Mercury until its retirement from damage during the Dominion War. Working piecemeal between ships since then, Tobias sees the USS Indefatigable as both the chance for a new adventure and a new home.
