I had a 3850 (same generation, lot stronger) and it had trouble running S2.

I now have a 6850. Not the very best but it's a good mix between performance and price. I can always upgrade later. With an intel i5 2500 I can run S2 at max unit size and ultra settings with blood without a hitch. The only time I start seeing trouble is when I run DM with 1.5 size in full stack battles.

8gb ram, upgrade to Win7 64bit. You're only using 3.2gb of it, now.

256mb dedicated graphic memeory is minimum spec. If you want those pics, think 6870 or better 2gb card.

You will also need a faster cpu. 2.3GHz is about minimum for even Empire nowadays.

You will need a bigger power supply to run it.

DEll cases really are not made for modifying.

My recommendations.

Load on distance. Sprites/2D characters as you refer to them start at a certain distance and ther are I believe four stages of them.

You buy it. $100 OEM unless Dell does not have drivers for your motherboard in Win 7 64bit, then new everything.

Yeah, talking a new computer for a new game. But do what you will. The next full release will cost me a new computer if I want to play it.
