    Default An Iberian Campaign

My solution to not having a Goidelic faction is invading ireland with Lusotannans. It will be a reinvention of the (possible) goidelic invasion of ireland.

My question is what do you think i will need to start an invasion? I don't want to spend too long in preparations either or i might arrive to discover the Casse have developed their pan Britannic empire which would be difficult to defeat with a single invasion army.

I was thinking of starting with taking some iberian regions to get the regionals but i have no idea how long it would be before i can recruit them. Some of the better ones like the Dosidataskeli would take far too long afaik.

Mostly if anyone can let me know even some good tactics it would be good, my main campaigns in EB have been Baktria and Roma so while they use skirmishers and light troops they have a strong central line around which to base the army. The Celts and Barbarians have a different emphasis and i'll admit i've never used them to any great degree. The only exception is as mercenaries in the Roman or Greek armies but again these were used to replace the original skirmishers and lighter troops ( in my armies if you're recruited as a skirmisher you had best make a will ) while still maintaining a strong core of Roman/Greek troops (one exception to this was the Roman campaign in Asia Mikra where because of excessive Roman casualties fighting phalanxs we eventually had an army based around mercenary phalangites).

So any help would be appreciated

You shouldn't have to worry too much. In my experience, the Casse tend to take at least 30 years before they start making moves in the direction of the rebels. In fact, I have a Carthage game right now (227 BC) in which the Casse only have England and Wales - they haven't taken Scotland yet, and both regions of Ireland are well-defended compared to most of Britain.

Pretty sure Dosidataskeli were removed due to lack of actual use historically, or something, so you'd have to mod them (and their Goidelic counterparts ...) back in. In any case, you'd want some solid infantry (Callacae Roscaithrera, Dunaminica, or Milites Ilergetum) at least in small numbers - Ireland has some good units, but not much in the way of heavies until later. Erain (the southern region) starts with two each of Teceitos, Lugoae, and Uirodusios, as well as one Imannae and Myrcharn (the general is a Cwmyr); Cruddain starts with a Cidainh general, Drwdae, three Uirodusios, two Teceitos, and one each of Balroae and Imannae. So Iberia's secondary specialty (AP units) aren't going to be too much use, though it's primary specialty (more javelins than you can shake a stick at) will be.*

It depends, really. I (playing on Medium Battles) don't have much problem basing my Sweboz/Casse armies around solid Spear/Sword lines in much the same way I would as Rome - except I can't field as many armies, of course. The Iberians do have the units to pull this off fairly well, IIRC. There's also this guide, which I have trouble implementing myself, but feel is my duty to show. As noted in the link, the Iberians can work with a more 'civilized' style of fighting due to the native units they get.

*: Unit notes, so you don't have to look up everything if you don't remember them.
Teceitos: Axemen. Not quite as tough as Asturian Axemen, but plenty good.
    Lugoae: Levy spearmen. Melee-only.
Uirodusios: Naked Spearmen. Glass cannons with a fear effect.
Imannae: Levy Skirmishers. Not too shabby.
Myrcharn: Light cavalry. Cut down Leuce Epos. Not awful, just ... not Leuce Epos.
Cwmyr: Gladius-quality Shortsword-wielding Champions (friendly morale buff). They're about equal to Callaecae Roscaithrera.
    Cidainh: Chariots.
Drwdae: Druids. High Armour, good Attack, carry Longswords, buff friendly morale. I'd recommend bringing at least one or two AP units to deal with these guys.
    Balroae: Skirmishers, decent light infantry.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.
