    Default A Gathering of the Ministry.

    The 'streets' and festering corridors of the Ministry were known to be awfully crowded and busy, sort of like a bustling London Market-scene, except these weren't just ordinary people; these were people who held an entire realm in balance and safe-guarded it, they were of great importance yet they could be compared the the gathering of a simple muggle in a city square. Yet on this fine day everyone had gathered this time for a single purpose, the announcement of a new Minister for Magic and a revolution in the workings of the ministry as pledged by almost all the candidates. Rumours though had spread, it had seemed that the twin of the famous Hogwarts headmaster had seized victory at the death and there seemed to be a frenzy of excitement and panic, who exactly was this mysterious and concealed Oliver Baird? This was one answer they were about to find out as they gathered around the main focal point of the Ministry, all patiently awaiting the grand entrance of this figure that was untimely due.

    The crowd then began to quite down to a whisper and the odd out of place whisper that reverberated around the rather sweltering and bustling area, there had been some sort of commotion on the stage that had been appropriately set-up for the occasion and as the crowd of high-ranking ministers onstage dispersed, the rather composed and agnostic figure of Oliver Baird elegantly strolled onto the center-stage, his lips parting as he let out a very smooth and calming voice;

    "Ladies and Gentlemen, Members of the Ministry, I ask that you stop your confab so I may introduce myself to thee today."

    Oliver took a few paces, a few beads of sweat trickled down his calm and collected face as he phrased his next few lines in his head.

    "As most of you may know by now, the Victor in the recent Ministerial elections was indeed myself, Oliver Baird. And I'm even more sure that you know of my brother, the current incumbent Headmaster of Hogwarts, which has lost one of it's pupils in a tragic incident, may God bless his soul."

    He wanted to sway the crowd to his side, wordplay was something he thought he was rather adept and wanted to acquire their faithful services using such techniques, not brute force like so many ministers had done so before him. His victory in the election had only been due to the unfaltering support of his twin and his faithful supporters and his ability to sway people to his way of thinking; for that he latched upon the rather popular subject of Death-eaters, using it to boost his support tremendously.

    "I hereby devote myself to the furthering of the Ministry and those it defends, protects and safeguards; I solemnly swear not to be swayed by the dark forces of evil and remain steadfast in my goal to make this Ministry strong as it had once been. Those of you who are still weary of my appointment, know this; I will sway you over and prove to you that the rest of you made the right decision in appointing me Minister for Magic. Do not doubt about that....

    You already know what I promise to do so I will save you the lecture; I promise to remove corruption entirely from this ministry. So beware all of you who wish to use it for their own greedy purposes and to sate their lust for power. And on the topic of corruption, I wish to introduce someone you are all familiar with for tackling such an issue;"

    As the crowd erupted in a sea of whispers and worried faces, it soon faltered away again as the person believed to be Oliver's only real rival in the elections approached the stage and a few smiles arose in the crowd at his timely arrival.

    "I hereby welcome Edward Cromwell to this stage and to you, the faitful workers of the ministry."

    Oliver paused, allowing the collective of ministry workers to take in all he had said so far and to allow those corrupt officials to quake in their boots. he rather enjoyed having this overwhelming power and control over these people and was going to make full use of it in the coming years of this term of office;

    "Mr. Cromwell will be as of now, the new Advisor for the Ministry of Magic, serving me directly. It will be his duty as my representative to weed out the source of corruption and weed out all corruption that lurks in the muddy waters of this establishment, he is given full authority, second only to me, when tackling this issue and I warmly wish his the best of luck in this endeavor."

    Oliver pased briskly from side to side, watching the array of faces before him, he then awaited for silence once more before continuing.

    "Now; for the final part of my speech, I wish to announce that I will be holding a meeting of all high-ranking ministry officials very shortly to shake-up the structure and organisation of the Ministry and henceforth I announce the opening of a variety of Committees of which that have been ignored by the past Minister. May you all travel to your homes safely tonight;"

    And with this Oliver departed the stage to a mix of reactions; some people were glad of his inspiring goals and yet there were those who loathed them, it would all kick off in the coming weeks...

    OOC: All ministers are to visit my office. ^_^

    Edward lingered, catching the eyes of some of the people he would be looking into carefully..
