Biography: Born on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay on Earth, Thomas was immersed in a nautical world from the start. Helping his father sail taught him life aboard ship, while navigating by the stars gave him a keen interest in the cosmos. He applied to Starfleet Academy as soon as he was old enough. Though he initially showed some interest and aptitude in the sciences, he was placed on the command track from an early date. Graduating near the top of his class, he was assigned as an assistant navigator on the USS Dauntless, one of the ships posted near the Neutral zone. He was shifted through several smaller postings before being assigned as a tactical officer about the USS Galaxy. He fought in the Dominion War, and in the First Battle of Chin'Toka he was commended for quickly re-manning the tactical station after the ship's tactical officer was killed by weapons fire. After being promoted to fill that posting, he served on the Galaxy for many years before being assigned to the USS Indefatigable along with a promotion to Lieutenant Commander.
