Personal background/small biography: As an Andorian, Tharin grew upimmersed in a culture that placed great value on martial prowess. At a young age, he was taught, as all Andorians are, to use the Ushann-Tor, a traditional blade used in the distant past by ice miners, and received basic martial training. Despite his upbringing however, Tharin was never much interested in such things. He was always more at ease cataloging the Aenar mythos or examining geothermal activity than memorizing the Ushaan. When the time came, he joined up with Starfleet, earning degrees in exoarchaeology and exobiology. He then served on the USS Capetown for several years before being transferred at the last minute to the Indefatigable.
