The Launch of the USS Indefatigable

Deep Space 9 buzzed with excitement when the brand new Intrepid class starship, the USS Indefatigable docked aboard the station. Throughout the station, crew had been arriving all day to prepare the ship for departure into the Bajoran wormhole. The Captain was to arrive shortly but until then all officers were summoned to report for duty.

OOC: This is just a pre-RP to get to know each other and pass the time, RP yourself on the station and then being called on board or something, I don't know

Markus Rhodes was a man who liked to be prompt and acted in a very professional manner, arriving at the Space-station docks from his quarters accompanied by three aides he was conferring with on his pleasant walk to the USS Idefatigable. He had been busy reading up on all the known datalogs concerning life in the Gamma quadrant; spending his nights researching how would be best to go about diplomacy in these unexplored far reaches. His face rather weary from the exhaustion; Markus strode to the Space-lift, taking out his documentations as he said farewell to his esteemed colleagues; showing them to the on-duty Federation officer at the lift.

"Good Day Officer; I am Markus Rhodes, Charge d'Affaires for this mission." Markus spoke in a rather strained tone; his eyelids pried open.

After being accepted and show up to the vessel, he opened his mouth agape in awe as he marvelled at the spectacle of the craft. it was very pristine and futuristic, he couldn't believe his eyes. He also smiled rather wryly at the amiable feel to it, with people bustling about and talking to each other in a friendly tone. Although his mood had brightened somewhat considerably, he still had no clue as to where his station was and merely waited rather patiently in one of the winding corridors near the entrance to the vessel.

David arrived and notified that he has ready for duty, he proceeded to sit in the corner and read the latest reports from Starfleet Command.

Markus caught a glimpse of an interesting report in the corner of his eye; instantly remembering he had forgotten to catch-up on the latest news. He slowly made his way to the corner, watching the screen with intense eyes as he spoke to David;

"Any Interesting News?"

"Mu'un Zeta, ready for engineering duty! Where's the belly of this beast, i want to inspect her first!" Mu'un was clearly hyperactive and nervous.

O'Falvey strolls out of Quarks, belly full, and hears the announcement for all hands to report to the Indefatigable. He dutifully obeys and makes his way to the proper docking bay

"Jaysus, she doesn't look much like a tractor!" exclaimed Thomas. His face bore a look of shock and fear. He couldn't shake the fact that he had no formal training at all and he was expected to Pilot that.

Tholos arrives at launch pad, reporting for duty. Tholos looks around to see what is happening.

Lieutenant S'jenes Kalelothran arrived in the station well before launch. He was greeted by the great many preparations that went into pre-launch checks, satisfied that everything seemed to be going okay he made his way to the lift, showing his pass to the on-duty officer, he said nothing and just waited for the man to let him on board. When the lift arrived he stepped inside, and waited for it to begin the long ascent to the waiting platform...

Arriving at the top he looked around, then reported to the area he would disembark from...

Sarvok arrives at the station. He looks at the people gathered there, feeling so different as he cannot share their enthusiasm. He is not wearing a uniform yet, only traditional Vulcan clothing; few people look at him with curiosity. He sees a man accompanied by three others. "This is the Diplomat" he thinks. "An excellent opportunity to talk about politics".

Markus caught sight of the approaching Vulcan, turning to face him with a rather courtly and polite smile. He had come across many Vulcans in his time and had come to respect them due to their very wise and professional approach to life. Markus was slightly more full of life than he had been five minutes prior, getting into the spirit of things as he socialised with various people aboard; he then spoke in a ice cool tone;

"Ah; It is good to see a Vulcan aboard, it is always a pleasure to meet one of your race."

He had come across many Vulcans in his time and had come to respect them due to their very wise and professional approach to life. "Ah; It is good to see a Vulcan aboard, it is always a pleasure to meet one of your race."

Indeed, may I say that diplomats such as yourself are often more logical than the rest of your race. Emotional stress can be quite negative for realtions between peoples, don't you think?

"Lieutenant David Abbot, Chief Tactical Officer."

David nodded when he saw the Vulcan and stretched his hand forward, he really liked Vulcans since they are much more rational than humans.

"A pleasure to meet you, I am Lieutenant David Abbot Chief Tactical officer."

David looked up at the man.

"Well some new promotions, nothing really interesting."

He then stretched his hand forward.

"Lieutenant David Abbot, Chief Tactical Officer."

Markus took the hand with a strong grip; shaking hands with his usual smile.

"Markus Rhodes; Charge d'Affaires for the Gamma Quadrant Diplomatic mission and the Diplomatic officer for this fine vessel."

Markus then released the grip;

"Tactics; I was never good at that in Starfleet Academy. You have much experience?"

Markus took the hand with a strong grip; shaking hands with his usual smile.

"Markus Rhodes; Charge d'Affaires for the Gamma Quadrant Diplomatic mission and the Diplomatic officer for this fine vessel."

Markus then released the grip;

"Tactics; I was never good at that in Starfleet Academy. You have much experience?"

David smiled at the strong grip.

"Well my experience is rather limited and this is my first assignment to a starship, I did however excel in tactics at the Academy and during the last four years I have been posted to Starfleet Command where I have had the chance to run tactical simulations every day."

Lieutenant Blanc assembled the security team and made preparation to board the craft. In the meantime he went to meet with the other officers. Blanc wore his dress uniform, crisp and pressed, for the christening and launch of the newest Starfleet ship. His weapon hung at his side.

'Pvt. Harrison reporting for duty SIR!' Harrison snaps to attention, looking at David. 'I take it you are a security officer?'

Sophia arrived aboard the station. She was filled with anxiety; her stomach was twisting and turning. It had been years since she had conversations with strangers. All she kept thinking was:

"Please nobody talk to me. Why did I ever accept this assignment? I could be reading Dr. Kowalski's newest paper on the temporal mechanics of wormholes right now in the peace of my own home. As soon as we board, I'll entrench myself in the Science Lab. You just have to get through this, Sophia."
