Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office

'Ambassador' Markus Rhodes entered the office with a broad smile; he had been rather content with the rather successful outcome of the launch and was eagerly anticipating his first Diplomatic mission, for he had not undertaken such a task by himself as of yet in his rather short career. There was a lot of nervousness seeping throughout his system consequently, he had to make sure everything went perfectly and he tried to remain positive as he sat gracefully upon his chair, poised in a very robust and professional-looking manner. He now turned his head to gaze freely at the door, awaiting Lieutenant S'jenes Kalelothran to arrive.

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
Markus waved his hand in one swift liquid motion towards the saluting Vulcan; smirking slightly as he pondered on how to say the Vulcan's name.
"Let there be no formalities in this office, we will be working together after all Lieutenant S'jenes. I would try to pronounce your name, but my tongue isn't designed to I'm afraid."
Markus rose from his seat, gracefully moving towards the data screen which was filled with scrolling jumbled words and phrases, the odd piece or two catching his keen eye.
"What do you know of the Gamma Quadrant Son?"

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
"The Bajoran wormhole,"
he pulled up a map on the screen,
"here,"
he pointed at the wormhole,
"is linked with a point in the Gamma Quadrant, exactly 4.7234 light years from the Idran star sytem."
he pulled up another map now, of the Gamma Quadrant,
"What we know about this system is that much of it is under the control of the Dominion, an empire created by the Changelings, a race of shape shifters,"
he spoke matter of factly as he knew much about this system,
"Furthermore, we believe that the Hur'q originate from here."

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
Markus was impressed, of course he knew most of this already from his mission briefing, but he was glad it seemed he had someone competent to work with on the coming voyage.
"Very impressive; not many people know of the origins of the one race which the Klingon's despise more than all others."
He clicked his fingers, trying to remember something he had been wanting to ask;
"Ah yes; I have been meaning to ask, do you know of any Bajoran activities in the area?"

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
"Ever since the destruction of their colonies on 'New Bajor',"
S'jenes pointed at the small planet,
"by Jem'Hadar, Bajoran's have had little to no involvement with this Quadrant, that may change in future but for now I doubt we will counter any activity from them on our explorations."

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
"That is pleasing to hear, I'd rather not have to deal with them right now. It's enough that we will have to deal with the dominion..."
Markus was going to ramble on; however he realised that may not be the most exciting prospect for the young Vulcan and paused;
"Have you been given any standing orders by the Captain yet?"

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
"No. Not yet."
The Lieutenant replied,
"However I will get to work on finding out what I can about the various races that reside in the Gamma Quadrant. What of you?"

"Ah, I am tasked with conducting all diplomacy in the Gamma Quadrant whilst we explore it, before the Federation can send appropriate ambassadors to the various planets we discover once we have a better understanding of the Quadrant."

"And it shall be my job to find out as much as I can about these races no doubt."
S'jenes went and sat down at his own workstation again,
"Where do you think we will be most likely to stop first?"

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
"I heard some reports recently regarding this; apparently there are some outlying planets close to the other-side of the wormhole, where or not they are dominion or not is another matter. I would bet that our first stop would be a non-dominion controlled planet where we would be more warmly received."

"That is most...logical."
S'jenes nodded,
"Anyway I must get back to preparing, if you have need of me just ask."

Re: Diplomatic and Intelligence Office
Shortly after, Commander Grissom enters the room on his tour of the ship. He notices the two men and approaches.
"Gentlemen. I'm Lt. Grissom, the XO. Just touring the ship and meeting the department. Ambassador? Pleased to make your acquaintance. And Lieutenant? I trust you're settling in all right?"

Markus extended his hand with his usual warm smile; inspecting the XO as he did so.
"A pleasure to make yours as well, I trust all is well on the bridge?"

Grissom accepts the hand and gives it a firm shake.
"Everything is running smoothly. I expect we'll be beginning the shakedown run soon, so I should be getting back there in any event."
He nods
"Ambassador, Lieutenant."
Grissom exists the office to head back to the bridge.

Alexei entered the room rigidly, almost knocking on the door, just before it slide open for him. He gazed around the room, more intimidated than amazed. He looked towards the Diplomat and Intelligence Officer.
'Ah, prevyet!'

Alexei nodded.
'You must be Lieutenant S'jenes Kal.....Kale...Kaleo..Kaleothran?'
He grinned nervously.
