"The system could detect ten cloaked ships, it could detect one hundred cloaked ships. However it may not detect a thousand cloaked ships through. Certainly we would know of the hundred and ten found, yet we'd never know about the thousand other ships that had passed as, obviously, they are cloaked. Therefore the system is unreliable, as we can never know the extent of its effectiveness one way or the other to a 100% guarantee."
Sophia pointed to her monitor:
"Indeed. A single ship should not be able to penetrate the Tachyon detection grid. Even if it tried to remodulate its shield frequency, it could not do this in time, since the tachyons are set on an alternating frequency."
Short Pause.
"Thank you, Lieutenant. You have been of great assistance."
Below the monitor there was another reading. However, Sophia knew that the Vulcan would not be able to understand its meaning, and so she did not bother trying to explain it...particularly because she did not want to start a needless commotion on her first day back on duty. She resolved that if she kept studying the readings, she would get to the bottom of things.
