    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Introduction ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    We are proud to announce our third release of American Civil War Mod for Empire Total War.
    This third release will be updated from time to time and can be seen as our goal of bringing you in touch with the American Civil War.
    Having in mind mod limits and game-play changes it is the most we could do to represent the history of Civil War.
    In some cases we had to compromise between historical correctness and a good challenging game-play.
    We are all slaves of the game engine.
    Further updates will strive to improve those aspects too and will also add additional stuff.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Overview ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    "American Civil War - The Blue and The Gray" is an multiple times award winning full overhaul mod of your ETW game. It changes the timeframe, factions, units, combat, immersion and many more parts of the game.

    ETW Campaign

    In this mod setting your goal is to achieve victory over your foes in the North American theater. Armies need longer time to travel on the map so plan your strategy wisely. Protect towns and settlements in your regions; if they are raided or captured by your enemies, your region capital will be under-supplied and a rebellion could quickly follow.

    Warpath Campaign

    This mod setting offers more regions in North America, nicer campaign map textures and much more.
    To play American Civil War in this mod setting you must own and install Warpath add-on.

    Other Mod features
    * A lot of Civil War Units
    * Civil War battlefields
    * Though CAI and BAI

    * Reworked main menu
    * New loading screens
    * Better campaign graphics
    * Many other 2D art
    * Civil war music
    * New unit sounds
    * Fantastic firing sounds
    * New animations
    * Trains and new army models
    * Extensive unit descriptions
    * Civil War era quotes

    * Powerful and easy to use Installer and Launcher

    * and much more

    To get a few graphical impressions please visit the Screens, Videos, AAR, Fanart thread.

    Version 3.3
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Campaign

    * Fixed a problem with crashes after battles
    * Fix a problem where after loading a save game the generals recruitment breaks
    * Generals now are available only in major cities. You have to have at least the Drill School level in your Army Admin slot, so start upgrading from the first turn. If you do not, perhaps you will loose the first general.
    * Fixed a problem with a couple of wrong messages about Meade and Hood.
    * Fixed a problem with CS leader portrait and name in US Warpath campaign.
    * Increased base campaign income
    * Increased slightly campaign difficulty
    * Building construction times added
    * Unit recruitment roster depends now on your building levels.
    A recruitment list is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...zN1UmwtRkJXRnc
    * Unit rcruitment limit per type partly changed
    * Railroads and Trains are on the campaign map
    * New campaign map army models
    * Forts are now set to wooden forts.
    * Settlement fortifications are taken out from the game.
    * CAI will now get a bit stronger after every year till 1866.

    Battles

    * Reduced unit costs for skirmish/mp battles by about 30%
    * Reduced the range accuracy for rifles slightly
    * Reduced the damage of rifles slightly
    * Increased the melee damage of cavalry
    * Lowered the defensive rating of cavalry
    * Lowered slightly the reload time of artillery
    * Unit formations redone, they form now a better line but still should not look like a robot army.
    * Dismounted cavalry reload animation redone
    * New CSA battle flag
    * Most infantry units can now actively attach bayonets. Once done, they cannot be un-attched and firing while attached is not possible. Those are restrictions by the game engine which cannot be changed. Chose wisely if your unit should attach it in the situation you have to face. The computer use it (not everytime) as well for his units, when the unit is out of ammo.

    * Several performance improvements (more later in 3.4)
    * New rifle firing animation (The soldier now need about 0,5 seconds to raise the weapon, about 2 seconds to aim, then he fires and still holding the weapon on the same level and watching for about 1,5 more seconds trough his iron sights if he hit.)
    * Slightly changed moral system
    * Overall some unit balancing

    Version 3.4

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Usually 3.4 was meant one big patch. Now it is splitted up into two version.
    This way you get stability/balance important things faster.

    Balance
    Some smaller combat tweaks

    Performance improvements

    Blood & smoke rework
    Sound & music rework
    Weather rework
    Unit distance detail

    Those improvements keep nearly 100% of the quality but reduce the amound of memory usage by about 50%.
    This also will help a lot of people who had crashes during battles.

    Version 3.4 is a full install, not a patch! It comes now as a single file to make the installation progress easier.
