what are these in the preferences editor?

These 3 options in the preferences editor elude me. What ado these do so I don't end up breaking something?

AI FORMATION: They make the AI smarter.
PLAYER FORMATION: Different formations for the player, changes how your army is set up.
MODESTY: Dicks or No Dicks
