Huge performance drop after last patch

Hey everyone.

After last patch i experienced a HUGE performance drop in crowded situation. I've tryed to upgrade drivers, switch settings , use mods and play vanilla. Whit the same settings as before performance dropped somewhere near 50%.

Alt tab while playing and see if your CPU is being heavily used by the steam exe for me!

Did you have the blood pack before the patch? It uses up a lot of CPU cycles in close combat. You can try to disable it in the graphics options.

No i've not the blood DLC.

EDIT : steam.exe got almost 25% cpu usage during menus and 1% during battles so i dont think it's the problem for me.

If it was happening at the menu's it is bound to be happening while in battles. Try double checking, triple checking. Alt tabbing between task manager and the game. You'll notice stuttering/hitching at the menu, it looks like frames stop and start. You'll notice this is happening also in game.

So what am i suppose to do? Wait for them to fix?

The more i play CA games the less i think ill continue to do it. (and i follow them since shogun 1)

Ok that's really annoyng .. how can CA mess things up everytime?

Giving you an example : Almost everything on ULTRA , msaa8x i could play a 1.2xmultiplier stack battle whit not issue, now i do experience performance drop even on half stacks.

No one experienced that?

Have you tried Game booster 3? It give nice boost for performance and FPS in shogun 2 & FOTS. Even I use it.

Basically dude.. It sucks I know, we just need to get the word out to the devs. They *should* be releasing a patch fixing all the problems the massive patch has caused and they might of spotted the problem I am having which it really does seem you are having as well. (~25% steam usage at menu)

And I use Gamebooster 3, it works a treat, normally. It doesn't fix the issue of steam using a chunk of my CPU and making Shogun run like garbage.

Well usually i can run shogun 2 perfectly, i dont need any game boosting software. That's the problem

I'll wait for CA patch and anyway i'm not gonna buy Fots.

@juicetoon i dont think CA can do anything regards the cpu usage as it's part of the engine. (warscape).

but why they cant re-write this i dont know.

i think part of the blame might be levelled at AMD because they were/are involved in shogun2 graphics...

am still loving the game but i wonder sometimes "what if"....why cant they use the unreal engine or the frostbite one?

p.s you should get fots ulb...i prefer it 2 shogun2..

I'm not gonna get fots if i can't play the game smooth as before anymore. I'm not even playng shogun 2 anymore if this is not fixed.

I spent money on my rig and having a patch that ruin performance so mutch its a just something i can't stand whit.

I'm having the same problem. I uninstalled Shogun 2 because it runs terribly. I hope they fix this soon.

Same here. I have massive lag spikes. I'm guessing it has something to do with the sound, since there is a period of silence, the game freezes, hangs, then begins again with all sounds that occurred during that period of silence going off at once. It's making the game almost unplayable. I'm using about 25% of my CPU on it, tried it with DX11 and DX9 - DX9 seemed to actually make it worse.

Same here, this game is SHAME. This is reason why i play Rome Total War with mods and Medieval 2 Total War with mods.
I mean if you want to have good FPS in Shogun II you need to turn off shadow OH really CA....
And after this latest update i even on start battle have 20 FPS...

It hasn't 100% fixed it, but it's done about 90% of the job for me. I just went in to my msconfig and forced use 1 processor. Loading times can still be a bit long, and there's the occasional stutter on the map, but I havent been interrupted in the field yet so if it's still there, it's far less frequent.

Seems like CA knows the problem and is working on it. Hope will be fixed soon.
