Default Fighting a Defensive War as Greece

As Greeks, I find attacking to be extremely hard, especially since I only play vh/vh now...

Going against Macedonia and Romans with armies 2-3 times the size of mine and hoping to capture their cities has become nearly impossible.. As have fighting 2-3 front wars.

I have been reduced to attacking cities with 1/2 or 1/3 as many men.. and just wait them out... As soon as they try to attack me, I turtle up with a phalanx walling up all sides and just try to ride it out... its a bit cheap... and time consuming to war like this but I can't afford both Infantry and Calvary buildings... thus I have given in to fielding whole armies of Infantry....

Sure I suffer from their missile attacks, but I really can't think of anything else I can do to remedy that...

So far I have taken Roman part of Sicily... and 3 Macedonian cities... as well as Crete... and my income have risen dramatically.. from 300 to 4500 now.... So I am beginning to field larger and larger armies, but so far, I have had 1/2 as many men as the AI in most battles...

you need to attack, yes greece doesnt have great cav so relie on your hoplites, this is cheap but make a stack at 1/2 send it next to a bigger army of your enermy and wait to be attacked form circle so easy or find higher ground to defend, i do smaller stack waits for bigger stack alot because the AI is incompentent do use his advantages and i ussaly have better troops

Why would you possibly say that? The only way you can loose as Greece is if you dont exploit and protect the trade routes.

And you are not bribing their best generals, why? You are the same culture, so their generals give you lots of offspring, dont they?

With the AI as bad as it is, I am sure you must be winning most of the time anyway.

Why not? You are the Greeks, you should have so much cash its an embarrassment. Are you trading? I hope you are dominating the waves. Send out embassies and open trade my man!

Good man! You definately want to be aggressive. Have you bribed the rebel armies in Asia minor to join you? Thats the best deal you are going to find anywhere. Although it will but you in Asia Minor, thus giving you another front to worry about, there is no two ways about it, you gotta buy it if you can.
