Deployable battle map defence's where are you?

I thought i seen deployable defences in pre release screen shots, im sure i seen hay bales and troops hiding behind them?.

Are they possible ,is it a perk to make defences before a battle?.

They sure missed out if there is none in the game, no walls on the battle map, nothing so far


Im also noticing that historic battle maps are far better than campaign battle maps. At least in the historic battle maps there are battle map advantages and you feel like you neeed a plan to win!.

yeah i am wondering the same thing? did they not use them in the time period of Japanese history.

Seems to make sense to me if you had time to make defences you would do i.e shoot and hide behind something so you dont get shot

Historicaly yes, trenches and fortifications were used in many wars before the Meiji era like the Napoleonic Wars, Crimean, Civil War. Trenches and fortifications were beginning to be used in almost every battle by the Civil War, but the ones in Shogun 2 look more like a wooden wall or atleast the ones from the old Shogun 2 but I havn't seen them yet in Fots.

Yeah it's very disappointing it proves ones again that CA is lacking in their game design. They just refuse to do their jobs properly !

There's villages and other buildings on the campaign map that have no campaign map gameplay effect, but they will show up on battle maps and usually have some cover your troops can get behind. Otherwise there's no deployable defenses.

And yes, the historical battles are better than the campaign battles, but to me that's less a matter of the campaign battles being bad than the historical battles being really good.
If campaign sieges could be as good as that historical battle siege, I think people would love them. Have every building you build on the campaign map show up as a capturable asset during the siege battle, and represent the town around the fort, and you'd have some great siege in my opinion.

Awww, I was looking forward to the new deployable defences.

Was hoping we could use them in sieges even to make them seem a little more modern at least.

I played a few battles with battle-map towns, and unlike the historical battles, my troops werent able to take cover behind small fences and such, so I guess it's a scripted thing ? Sorry for the missinformation.
