I've tried several times now to rally routing troops. I wait until the routing unit is within the general's blue circle and then activate the bugle icon rally ability. I have never seen the troops stop routing. Even with great generals like Napoleon. The troops can run within a yard of him, just ignore the rally call, and keep on running. Am I missing something here???

It may be that they are too far gone by the time you rally. Ideally you should rally before they break when you notice their morale is breaking.

Thanks for the tip. I understand that this may be the best way to rally if this is how the game works. However, I still feel that rallying implies that the troops have already broken and are routing. Maybe it is a game design issue.

you have to do it either before routing, or when they are broken and not shattered (when they still have that little flag above them)
