Any idiot-proof guides to modding savegames?

Seems that esf editor 1.4.6 and 1.4.8 no longer work..

Taw indicates esf2xml works fine

Anyone know where esf2xml can be dl/l'd, and a simple guide on how to use it?

Am familiar with tweaking data files in M2TW, RTW...but this new S2 format has me boggled.
