    Default sub-groups gone post FOTS?

I have not played S2 for a while. Before FOTS it was possible to create sub-groups within your main army by selecting a bunch of units (let's say bows) and pressing CTRL + [F1-F4]. Then, it was possible to recall the sub-group (while maintaining the main group) later by pressing F1.

Now, since the FOTS patch, it does not seem to work. Has this feature been removed?

    Yes, that is gone.

However, one of the advantages of this - the simple single line formation - can now be applied for normal groups by pressing Ctrl-g (to either create the group or after creation).

That, ummm, sucks. I liked to control my flanks with subgroups. Oh well...

    Thanks for the response.

    It's there.

Just use 1 ~ 9 instead of the F keys. I never even knew it worked with the F keys lol

At least that's what I think that you wanted.

It's not the same thing. Pre-patch, you could create a group (using keys 1 ~ 9), set it to a marching (or whatever) formation and then proceed and create sub-groups (using F1-F4) within the group. That way you could have an army marching as a whole, but then different parts of that army performing separate actions (left flank, right flank, center, etc.). Later, the whole army would return to the starting formation. By the way, pre-patch, F1-F4 was a way to get certain parts of your formation to form a single line upon reaching their target (while preserving the original overall formation in memory).

Is there still a way to create single unit "groups"? I always used to put my generals on F1-F4 and now I can't
