How to win FOTS sieges as a defender ?

It is imposable , unless attacker is completely clueless about what he is doing.Has anyone won a siege as a defender in multiplayer ?

As a defender i am always forced to buy cannons , which are expensive , only to counter attackers cannons , because otherwise he can demolish me with them alone and if he has a shinobi retainer it's ended as fast as battle starts....

You are bringing an expensive unit when you dont have a whole lot of money to begin with.

It is super easy. I am level 7 and have played a couple siege game. I have never lost as a defender. You just bring enough tosa rifleman, shogitai and cannons and u win.

I did yesterday, 3v3 in a new castle (dont remember the name). attacker was 2 shogun armies + 1 FOTS army, defender was a shogun army and 2 FOTS army. The bows have offcours a longer range, which was annoying when being a defender.

but the main reason i won was because time ran out for the attackers :p and because we were so low level they didnt have decent artillery like parrots or armstrong guns, only mangonels and fire rockets

Easy enough if you use a Shogun army. Arty will no doubt hurt you, but if you use a crap ton of bows and stay back from the walls and pepper them as they come. I usually have guys around the second level and third level and just pull them back as the enemy attains the 1st level until I have only units in the last level and 2nd to last and then it's melee time. I'm not sure how you would do this with FOTS units...there are bow units, but I'm not sure how many you can have in your army. Attacking and defending Castles held by FOTS generals is fairly easy as a Shogun 2 player. Fighting in the field...different story.

is FOTS artillery (armstrong and parrot gun) usefull when defending a siege?

and whatcathasaigh days is true. your bows outrange the line infantry, and walls offer little protection anyway
