You guys have any formula for this? I hit 6/10 shots when it's far away. Is there a better way to improve the accuracy?

Not really. I find the crosshair doesn't help a whole lot (at least, not when finding range. Extremely useful when "centering" your shots though). Just, do a little guess work to determine how far away they are, and then have the largest horizontal line over the enemy troops you want to hit.
Make large adjustments until you zero in.I would normally aim for the center and then once i have it leave the mouse alone!
Accuracy upgrades also will help the spread of the cannon ball once you zero in.Its a right pain getting a zero on a tiny cannon but once you do u can knock em down like skittles by simply adjusting left and right.
i will have my Parrot gun with 3 accuracy + elite accuracy which is 1360 koku ready for testing later hopefully.I hope that elite accuracy will really nail down the spread issue and make it a killing machine even at long ranges.
I don`t use the 3rd person mode at all. I just leave it to my trusty men.
Well my trusty men always seem to aim at the edge of a unit, which makes it really annoying if I want to take out a general quickly.
When trying to take out generals, I just focus all artillery on him for a short time. That works pretty well.
I do like mowing down dudes with my gatling. But normally it feels a bit like cheating because the AI doesn't have someone to aim for them.
In MP all bets would be off, but I rarely play MP.

There's nothing more satisfying then firing a cannonball, and watching it impact into the middle of a tightly-packed formation, and watching the bodies fly.
In my experience, the targeting reticle is so small that sighting is fairly difficult for long range.
I'm constantly eye-balling trying to remember how many imaginary inches the reticle needs to be above the target.
How do you guys manage?
I came up with an easy solution that happened to be sitting on my PC desk. It's a cheap transparent plastic 12 inch ruler. One side is Imperial inches and the other is metric. You can find these at any Office supply chain for under $3. The cheaper the better since you want it to be clear and thin.
Anyway, I simply laid it vertically on my screen with one end resting on the inside of the lower bezel of my monitor. One edge was laid along the vertical line of the aiming reticle and the ruler just stayed in place without any extra support due to the normal viewing tilt of my monitor
The artillery aiming reticle is always fixed in the center of your monitor. It's the background scenery that moves when you move your mouse. What the ruler accomplished was to extend the graph lines of the reticle to the bottom of my sceen. Now, instead of guessing where to put the reticle in empty sky, I could use the lower graduations on the ruler to either aim at the target or at some fixed point on the horizon.
It's not perfect since it still requires a steady hand and modern laser mice seem to record the slightest hand twitch, but it sure eliminates a lot of guessing and i find that I scored a better percentage of hits.
Of course the aiming of my unit A.I. is still better, so I only tend to use this when the target is out of the auto targeting range.
Cheers

Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl!
That's some good lateral thinking! I only use manual aiming if I want to be sure of really pounding a big chunk of enemy units or for out of range targets. Despite buggy auto-aiming (firing at the end of lines) it really doesn't seem to matter in open field battles for the most part. Big numbers killed regardless.
Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out...and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel. ..And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man"-- with his mouth.

It's the far left button on your cannon options. Sort of like a little round target thingee
