    Default Learning to Transfigure

Edward sat at his desk, deep in thought.. In the past few days he had been going over his defeat at the hands of the Death Eaters. He had attacked because he needed to know what was going on, yet if the books he had been reading were correct, this could be easily fixed by becoming an Animagus. So he went to Greyhouse and having stocked up he had been reading for hours solid, trying to imagine what he needed to do, to even think about mastering this skill. He looked up out of the window, into the sky, trying to just think about this undertaking he was about to challenge.

The next day Edward arose early once more, he stood on his flat's balcony overlooking Grosvenor Square. The Muggle Embassy of the United States sat opposite, at the top of its building a golden eagle. The thought hit Edward, a bird would be the best animal to be able to transfigure into. Returning to his study he scoured his bookshelves, searching for books on magical animals, finding the first one it seemed the earliest animagus was a Falcon, not too dissimilar. He began to read, and apply his mind, slowly forming into a total focus. Finally he stood, closing his eyes he began to imagine becoming a falcon..

A loud roaring filled the mans head, a rushing sound, not unlike the flapping of many wings, he keeled to the ground, face contorted in pain, slipping slowly into unconciousness...

Edward, his hands almost rooted to the floor tried to haul himself up. His eyes were closed but he kept concentrating, he must try and achieve some stage in this process for any then will he learn. Cromwell tried to pick himself up, getting a few inches off the ground, still imaging the falcon in his head. Its wings gracefully propelling its aqueline body through the air, seeing all of Earth below it.

Nothing more happened. Exhaustion overcame him, forcing bright white spots to appear before his eyes. His breathkng became laboured and then he fell, into unconciousness...

Two days later he awoke, aching all over, barely able to move...

Edward lay there, trying to remember what he had done just before the slip into the unconsciousness.. Sitting up slowly, aching and paining he crawled to his chair, sitting down. Taking his wand, he held it in front of himself, trying to hold the wand steady, something incredibly difficult.

    "
    Reparifors"

As his body began to tighten, and the feeling of healing slowly coarsing over him he held his face in his hands..

    "What did I do wrong?"

Taking the books of Falco, the first notable Animagus he kept reading..

Reading the book, Edward began to discover a pattern. Before Falco mastered complete control of his powers, they were only activated in immense times of danger. Cromwell thought this might be of use. He stepped into the centre of his study, drawing a large circle of magical protection so that what happened within it would not harm the rest of the flat and the Muggle world outside. Then within the circle he closed his eyes, once again imagining the aqueline image of the falcon, gliding through the air of the mountains, the wind rushing against it but it tireless contuining on despite it. The eyes began to display the spots again, but the Edward set a fire with his wand within the circle, a searing fire beginning near him, he still thought of the falcon, trying to imagine himself as one. Gliding through the streams of air in the skies.

The flames burned brighter and brighter, tearing up the space inside the cirlce, drawing in the oxygen and choking the man. He staggered back from the flames and fell outside the circle into nstant relief as the flames disappeared, he was slightly red but otherwise fine...
