(Success) A Map of Renown
Atticus had heard stories from the older students about a strange map that Harry Potter had once possessed. It had strange qualities that seemed to thwart punishment and aid students in sneaking about the castle. After the recent catastrophe in the forest with Cecil and Weatherby, Atticus considered the map worthwhile. He figured a good place to start was the library, to see if this map was mentioned in any of the books relating to odd magical items, or perhaps the history of Hogwarts or any relevant history books...

Re: A Map of Renown
Sunlight streamed down into the library from the large window that stood at the head of the room. Row, upon row, of books stretched out before Atticus. Forgotten secrets lying within their yellowed pages. The entirety of Magical History could be found between their covers and all knowledge that had ever been written down was stored within that vast room. To find what you needed, you just had to know where to look...

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus eyed the book cases apprehensively. How many students had stood here in the same situation, looking for information, but now knowing where to start? Atticus eyed the restricted section enviously. If he could get access there, he would be able to read over books with more sensitive information...but he would need a note from a professor...and he doubted that would be possible if he was truthful. He began to peruse the historical sections, looking for a book that would give him some general idea of Hogwarts' oddities. After several minutes he removed Hogwarts a History from the shelves and began to read...

Re: A Map of Renown
Though he searched through this book, excerpts and snippets of history flowing into his mind with each new word read, he could find neither mention, nor reference to this elusive map. Even this, 'Hogwarts A History' The most historically rich and important account of Hogwarts ever published, did not provide him the answers he wanted or, indeed, needed?..

Re: A Map of Renown
With the candles burning low in the library, and the librarian growing grumpy at being kept later than she cared to stay, Atticus conceded defeat on this first day of the hunt. He had scanned dozens of books looking for clues, but apparently none had turned up. Maybe access to the forbidden section was indeed his only hope...he lazily gathered his notes and shoved them in his book, preparing to make his way down to the Slytherin common room. His head hung wearily as he set off, but his mind was still working furiously.
The forbidden section was the next place to look, he felt sure of it, but perhaps it would be wise to consult someone who might have actually seen the map, or may have seen someone using it at one point. Unfortunately this lead only pointed in one direction. He would have to confront a Gryffindor, and it would probably have to be a 7th year Gryffindor. Nothing sounded more terrifying than this, but Atticus felt that if the forbidden section yielded no fruit, this would be the next source to examine.

Ms.Pince, the elderly Librarian glanced at the room through her beady eyes, keeping a close watch on the restricted section in particular, and the little sign which hung near the door...'Years 6-7 only'

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus narrowed his eyes and made his way briskly into the corridor. He was looking out for any older looking Gryffindors he could corner and interrogate about the map. Failing that he would need to find a way into the restricted section...

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus, so caught up in his thoughts, was barely paying attention to where he was going, he smacked into a statue that stood right outside the library. He sat on the bench, out of view of the corridor and nursed his head.
At that moment, a burly Gryffindor marched past, tailed by Atticus' friends, Cecil and Weatherby, who were struggling to keep up with the older boy. The scene seemed odd, very odd, to Atticus' eyes...

Re: A Map of Renown
"How inconvenient." Atticus thought to himself. He would somehow have to get the attention of the older student and then force Weatherby and Cecil to butt out. Perhaps antagonism was the best chance he had of getting attention...
Hey you, don't I know you from somewhere? Didn't I see you in the hospital wing with a blown up nose? Why didn't they fix it?

The boy stopped, wheeling round slowly to face Weatherby and Cecil, he took a long look at the boy closest to him, opening his mouth to say something, but stopped, shaking his head, he drew his fist and smashed it into Weatherby's face,
"Shut up and leave me alone."
he hissed before striding off, leaving the boy bleeding in the coridor

Re: A Map of Renown
Weatherby tumbled flat onto his bum, grasping at his nose. It was gushing blood, and quite clearly broken. He was attempting to say something, but muffled between his hands, the blood collecting around his sinuses, and his continuous groans, all the other boys could hear was something akin to a ghost's moaning.

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus seized this opportunity and sprinted ahead of the trio down an adjacent corridor. When he thought he was quite even with the 7th year, he rushed out in front of him, carrying his books ahead of him, so the older boy would knock into him. Hopefully dropping all his books on the ground as a result of the collision would make the older student stop and help...

Re: A Map of Renown
Weatherby was stunned as Atticus sprinted away, without even a word of inquiry before fleeing the scene (at least, that's what he thought he saw, between all the stars and colorful fishes swimming around his field of vision). He reached over and yanked on the hem of Cecil's pants, before waving his arm hurriedly in the seventh-year and Atticus' direction: follow them!

Cecil put an arm around Weatherby to support him, and hurried (as much as he could while still supporting his friend) after the other boy. "Oi! What's your problem?! What'd you do that for?!"

Re: A Map of Renown
The Seventh year rounded a corner and stopped, panting hard. He mopped his forehead with his tie, then walked out into the corridor once more only to have Atticus crash into him. He fell backward into the archway room he had just exited and lay there stunned...

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus made a good show of it. He threw his books in all directions and fell to the ground. He shot the older boy a look of horror.
"I'm sorry...I didn't see you..."
He rubbed his head and groaned, reaching for a paper he had strategically placed on the top of his stack, in bold letters he had underlined the words Hogwart's Secret Map

Re: A Map of Renown
The boy stood grumbling to himself and began to help the boy pick up papers. Seeing the note he snorted slightly,
"Hah, is that what all this is about?"
he laughed,
"You'll never find that, I've been searching for most the year."
he shook his head in disbelief,
"How did you find out about it?"
he asked slightly confused as to how a first year would know,
"I remember that moaning ghost going on about a special map that Harry had..."
he shuddered slightly recalling his encounter with her,
"...that's how I learned of it..."

Re: A Map of Renown
Atticus smiled wryly and pointed to the crest on his robes.
Slytherin. Supposed to be cunning and all that, right? Well, I was reading a lot about Hogwarts and there are rumors. Especially with the stuff last year. A lot of people gave interviews. Its funny how people ended being in just the right place at the right time, isn't it?
Well, anyway, seeing as you're older, you'll probably be leaving here soon anyway, right? Have you found anything out about it? You must have known Harry Potter after all....

Re: A Map of Renown
"Nope nothing,"
grimaced the boy,
"A year wasted trying to find that blasted thing..."
he thought for a moment,
"I'll tell you one thing, maybe if you...charmed...Myrtle she may tell you more."
he snorted again, the thought almost preposterous.
"Anyway, that's all I know, Myrtle or...hmm"
he thought again,
"You could try Hagrid. Now, I really am late for charms so..."
he dusted himself off slightly,
"Goodbye."
