    Default The Wrath Of God

Have you ever had a campaign where suddenly everything blew up in your face in spectacular fashion? Particularly with random events?

I had one of my first campaigns with the Moors go sour in the series of 3 turns. I had a slew of merchants in Timbuktu raking in profits whilst a Jihad launched on Venice with my greatest general, things were looking good. In one turn there was an earthquake which killed all of had my merchants down south, crippling my economy. I had Milan under siege (figured I would off Milan on the way to Venice). I captured the city only to realize it plague and the next turn my 8 star 30 year old general was killed by riots in the city as Venice Besieged the city. Next turn the entire army deserts due to no general on the Jihad. This gave Venice the other two wealthiest Italian citys at the cost of my only decent army. I quit and never looked back.

Coincidentally, I´ve also been playing a moorish campaign recently, in which my economy got very strained due to having too many frontlines.
I also had a small chunk of land around Antioch, so I figured I would swat two flies in one swing by attacking Egypt.
I sent my most promising general with an army of old veterans and a slew of elites (Hashashim and Tuaregs, both pretty hard to produce any numbers of).
After some 20 turns travelling through the desert, they were greeted with an earthquake in Alexandria that killed the general and took out at least a fifth of the army...
Without a general for the sieges, I further lost needless amounts of soldiers when taking Alexandria and Cairo.
Also, the reinforcing army took so long to get there that, by the time I had taken the Nile valley, the Mongols had already shattered my Outremer colonies.
